Let us have FDI in retail sector; there is no problem with that. But let us have it with our COUNTRY'S interest driving it. 80% of the products to be marketed by the FDI retail chains must be of INDIAN ORIGIN... our products meeting the international standards of quality.

I appreciate your gesture and concern but to just quote some simple examples, I bought a toy for my daughter from US, she threw it umpteen number of times and is still intact after 2 years. I did the same for an India toy, it broke first time it fell from her hand. Another example, I guess you would be putting up lights in your home every Diwali even 20 years back when chinease lights were not there. Do you remember roaming around having a tester in hand, trying to repair the lights even on Diwali night? I now have chinease lights which are much more sofesticated, have not gone bad in last 7 years and much cheaper. The whole point is if world is making better products than us, why not get those products. Hopefully, Indian manufacturers will also learn the value of Quality.....!! Or may be the competition with international players might force them to think about it...... Give it a thought...!!

Abhishek Jain, it is not always true that Amrika makes better products; I had very bad experience with someAmrikan proudcts and they were not TOYS but highly sophisticatetd equipments like Slip-Energy Recovery System costing a fewCrores!!! The less we talk about the Chinese products, the better.
HT Motors made by BHEL in India are much better than the Motors made by Shinko, Japan; similarly large pumps manufactured by Kirloskars are as good as the pumps manufactured any where in the world.

The point is not that. As consumers we need options to buy better and cheaper things no matter where they are manufactured. Let the Indian consumers decide who lives and who does not. Why this monopoly?

let govt reserve for 75% of Indian good then only it will be really helpful for our economy
What is a gun without a bullet and a bow without an arrow? Dr. Singh is not the king anymore. He has landed himself in a complete soup with his dilemmas. He will not be able to put forward his authority anymore. Mamata Banerjee's decision of opposing FDI will favor the middlemen and harm the interests of the poor farmers. If she still harbors this type of mentality then she would not be able to attract the much needed investment for West Bengal. Industrialists will still get frightened to invest in Bengal. This will further doom the financial condition of West Bengal.

Dr. Singh was never a king. He was and will remain a slave of Italian mafia.
