To some extend that is true, but the problem is that cancer cannot be just rated as lifestyle disorder alone. You inherit some risk of getting cancer, infact every one, what ever your lifestyle may be. The environmental factors add up to the genetic risk. Also there are very less if any methods to predict cancers which are not inherited, nor is there a sure shot cure for almost all cancers. But unlike that the familial cancers can be predicted (again it is prediction) and the suspected families could be successfully screened for the disease, and early detected. Also a lifestyle change may be even recommended. what happens is that we have a method to prevent/treat those cancers with say an 80% chance, just because they are predictable and outcomes are well known. so it is like lives which can easily be saved. also such research helps in treatment options for sporadic cancers.
It is very sad that we can not escape these serious medical conditions by bribing some one some where. Even "Prasad" from famous Sadhus and Babas have known to fail. Now, to whom a normal idiotic Indian should turn to ?
