What does Arundhati-ji wants to say about corruption?
by bharat sant on Apr 30, 2011 08:28 PM  | Hide replies

Arundhati-ji, if Lok Pal Bill is not the solution, what is it, Madam? After all Anna Hazare has come on the scene of anti-corruption just a few weeks ago. But there were at least a dozen prominent people, including Arundhati-ji, who have been raising a voice against corruption. Have they ever talked about the roots of corruption. All of us are seeing that mega=scams came up only after the NRI (Non-resident-Italian) lady became Congress Chief. Don't you believe it? Look back please. What did you do Arundhati-ji when you came to know about 2G scam, CWG scam, Adarsha Housing Society scam? Can you not see the havoc played by Soniaji and Karunanidhi, and the whole lot of Bombay politicians? They are the master-minds Madam. A doctor does not start treating until he examines the symptoms, the root causes. The root causes of huge corruption in India especially in the last say 10 years are clearly visible. There is only one person - Subramanian Swamy -- who has taken up the mission of prosecuting the corrupt, not just the small fish like Raja, but the big fish like Chidambaran, Karunanidhi, and Soniaji. He (Swamy) has sought permission of PM for their prosecution. I think we all must support the trio of Anna Hazare - Subranmanian Swamy - Guru Ramdev. Plus we individually have to 'cleanse' ourselves and work with honesty and integrity.

The Indian

All this remind me of the ludicrous "crab mentality" - pull down the crab which seems to be succeeding in getting out of the pot. Anna has been able to arouse public awareness on a scale unexpected by the self hyped know-alls and the Mai-baaps of Indian system who are a law onto themselves. They can not see a man like Anna to mobilise public opinion and angst against the entrenched rotten system. The fear of losing the right to loot and plunder is troubling their sleep, hence all these attempts to divert attention form the main issue - to initiate a Lokpal bill, which will bring some check on the top of the system and deter these looters form brazenly plundering our national (public) resources to fill their pockets.

If attention is taken off the main issue here, the "system" will strike with a vengeance and silence all forms of public dissent in years to come. If our future generations are to survive, the first step towards cleaning up i.e. Lok pal bill should come - notwithstanding all the hair splitting by the chatteratti.

The scope of Lok pal bill needs to be extended to include Media so that unethical conduct of media persons as in Nira Radia tape gate is checked in future.

activists with rufled feathers
by Turin on Apr 30, 2011 07:30 PM

Where were all these social activists when monster level corruption was carried out in the past few years under the "secular" UPA govt?

You didn't use even your powerful pen to show your displeasure, let alone outrage, against the ruling class in your own New Delhi.

These know-alls didn't even open their mouths till Anna started getting support from the people, even the city dwelling, hi-fi youth. Anna, who fasted beside a pic of Bharat Mata ( which some corrupt depict as a RSS symbol) and slowly getting pan-India support is something that disturbs these people.

Root cause of corruption is capitalism, privatization, Ms. Roy? Then how come you conduct yoga classes in Five Star Hotels in New Delhi? Why not just in Govt offices, for the corrupt babus?

Corporates behind corruption
by tj chd on Apr 30, 2011 07:24 PM  | Hide replies

It is true that corporates are at the core of corruption. For their vested interests, they bribe all political parties in the form of election funds or otherwise. Therefore all the parties do almost the same when they come to power. But I don't think that Prashan Bhushan alone can solve the problem.

when nobody has had a solution against corruption for all these years, when nobody did anything constructive to stop it, let the people who volunteered to do it continue with their mission.

Our inactions made us losers, let the brave go ahead!

Arundhati's crabs

Demonetise 500 and 1000 rupee notes. Corruption has to come down. Couple it with time bound exemplary punishment without recourse to appeal.

Arundhati a traitor

Arundhati was given award for what? what was her achievement towards welfare of the society or human being except writing. We heard that she also encroached some land and built a farmhouse/bunglow. She herself seems to be the best friend of politicians-cum-scamsturs and that's the only reason she was given so much importance and nothing else.

Shake Hasina

There are moments that make some of us question the moral compass of those around us and, perhaps, even our world at large.

For there have been far too many of us who have taken many a vicious beating inside the chambers of the powers that rule the roost in this country.

As if that was not enough now we get to read this drivel that causes deliberate confusion with the use of a spate of meaningless words that goes off on a wool gathering picnic.

If Rediff is on the side of those who are tired seeing, with scam after scam, corruption surpassing anything we could possibly ever have imagined the time has come to shoo-off rather than encourage word-smithy vermin to distract us from the process that Anna has begun.

She is god of all mindless / sensless blabber. Instead of commenting on serious subjects like corruption, rather she should write a new intellectual soft porn novel with characters like barkha dutt, testa and shabana ajmi..truely, these people are immediate burden on the society. Please free us from them..
