President Obama is right. Doctors in USA are making life more and more difficult for Americans. And India is attracting the people who can afford them that is from America and other rich countries. Indians are greedy too. They will soon come par with Americans soon. Actually it will not be a bad idea to outsource expansive medicare to other countries provided they are monitored that the quality of care is given is can be challenged according to American standard. That will teach greedy American doctors a lesson.
Obama has every right to ask people to use US products, but he is not so wise to make direct references to any specific country. He made direct references to Indian on many occassions in a negative way. To be honest I prefer Bush, at least he never made contradicting speach against any country who he called friends, especially India. Obama comes across as a person who hates India but for strategic reasons he speaks well of India when he visits India.
Money is central to an American's thinking. In 70's and 80's, the American economy dipped mainly because Americans flocked to buy Japanese products: cars, TVs and home appliances as they were cheaper than the corresponding American brands. An average American believes in the maxim of VALUE FOR MONEY. Obama's remarks are not going to deter him for seeking cheaper health care elsewhere provided the standard is good.
The cost of health care in India is however too high by Indian economic standards. Can't something be done to make it affordable?
June 2009 Washington Obama speech: US President Barack Obama has exhorted his countrymen to buckle up as the Indians and Chinese are catching them fast, as Americans have now settled into mediocrity. Our kids are falling behind when it comes to science.
