Anna Hazare's crusade should have been against the judicial organisation in our country which has totally destroyed the rule of law in our country. Cases drag on for years, often over generations, often unheard for decades. Here it is not just the case of justice being delayed, it is justice being denied altogether. Thus corrupt people continue to have a field day while the common man suffers.

Anna Hazare's fight would have been more purposeful if the fight had been to bring in greater judicial responsibilty and accountabilty. It would have been far more dangerous if he had. He would have been promptly hauled up for 'contempt of court' and jailed. This is the stick our judiciary always uses whenever anyone speaks up against their total worthlessness. But then, as a true crusader this should not have worried Anna Hazare. It never did worry the Mahatma.

The judges in our country, at all levels, are at least 75% responsible for the mess the judicial system is in our country. Law breakers now know they can get away with murder (even literally), and they do. So no one fears the law.

If Anna Hazare really wants to make a change in the system, it is the judicial system he will have to cleanse. Let him take on the judicials system, then we will get to know how many of the thousands who

I cant blame judges alone for dragging cases. It is mainly due to the shortage in resources in judiciary. We need more no of judges to speed up the cases to get a timely verdict. Even a honest judge also cannot deliver due to the volume of the cases he had to handle.

I do not disagree with you. But if the judges are even half as proactive with the government in resolving the issues that hold them up as they are whenever they get a chance to take over executive functions, the matter would be resolved in a trice

A futile excercise

Once the euphoria about Anna Hazare's perceived 'victory' over the power brokers in New Delhi subsides, it would not be out of place to examine what has really been achieved.

Some years ago the post of the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) was created. Has it really been able to bring down corruption in the country ? For one thing a lot of important positions in government which have enormous scope for corruption have been kept out of its purview. For another, the effectiveness of the post depends on the person selected to it. If the political masters wish they can subvert the effectiveness of the post by appointing some one pliable and compliant to its wishes. We have recently had the most unedifying spectacle of the CVC being forced to step down when it was found that there were allegations of corruption against him. Further, he did not step down on his own. He did so only when the Supreme Court forced him to.

In the meanwhile, the office of the CVC has itself become a hotbed of corruption. It is learnt that officials in the CVC office instigate anonymous complaints against top officials in PSUs. While it can be no body's contention that the PSU top honchos are all having clean hands, but it is learnt that these allegations are then settled with them by the CVC officials with a considerable cut being taken from the ill gotten earnings of these officials.

One can be sure that the office of the Lokpal, once created, will go the same way 10-15 years down the line.

let's praise modi without qualification
by shilpy on Apr 14, 2011 11:20 PM

good people seem to be intimidated against praising modi, including that new leader of deobandh. this situation does not serve india's best interests. modi has done no wrong and is not responsible for the riot. it is the divide-n-rule gandhis and congressis who are responsible for starting godhra riot - yes, many convicted in godhra incident are/were congress party functionaries, including elected ones. whenever communal riots are talked about, the blame must squarely fall on anti-saffron gandhis and their pliant congress.

btw, in an unrelated matter, since the communal riot the terror incidents have gone down remarkably.

Military Rule
by Sadhu on Apr 14, 2011 08:07 PM  | Hide replies

We should remove all political parties & introduce Military Rule in India to end corruption.

First priority should be to bring all money from foreign banks. If the foreign banks don't cooperate declare war on their country.

Also, military should allow only one child per couple & compulsory minimum 1 year military service for all.

Don't you want FDI?
Without FDI you can't create jobs in the economy.
And without corruption, India won't get $50 billion/year FDI.

Tamilnadu Chief minister allowed his son to be dragged down and so violently treated during emergency. But he said he will come out successfully. He did. Now he says if Raja doesnot come out free he will be suspened from the party. Why then Congress and BJP (Laxman) protect the corrupt?

Give an ultimatum to all politicians and the bureaucrats to surrender the corrupt money within a fortnight and escape execution or impriosnment.Declare the property outside India
whcih can be nationalised and escape imprisonment.

Organsie people committee in every waud to intimate the corruption in their areas.Elders and patriots can offer free national service.
