Who gave these unhygenic vendors permission to operate? Instead of beating these vendors MNS should beat mumbai corporators and corrupt bmc staffers for letting such vendors operate. Even if these vendors don't have legal license they still operate that is because of corrupt bmc (brihanmumbai municipal corporation) people who take hafta from these people.
What has mns done about s--t filled roads in mumbai where people s--t on the streets, and what has it done about potholes? why not beat the bmc first???
mumbai coporators only think about renaming streets and places , not any concrete developement.

A day after activists of Raj Thackeray led-Maharashtra Navniramn Sena brutally bashed up the livelihood of 'pani and bhelpuri' vendors in Mumbai for dishing out unhygienic fare, the party on Friday decided to give written complaints (to demonstate how learned & literate they are) to all Brihanmumbai Municipal Commission ward officers seeking strict action against them.
Now this should be the response applicable to both SS & MNS:

There should be strict action against all food vendors, not just 'panipuri' vendors.
BMC must immediately appoint all these hobbying-hoods of SS & MNS as hygiene inspectors who would be authorised to smell hands, check nails, and where necessary, also inspect under-arms of all Vendors so that the street food sold meets up to their maha hygenic standards.
Also they must ceritify that the 'vadas' being sold are made by hands-washed-with-savlon-after-lug-wee and the dough of the 'pavs' was hand made not foot-trodden.
Once the perfect the art, to keep them busy they should be let loose by BMC on all 'junka-bhakar' stalls which today sell every thing else but junka-bhakar.
Later, when they start vandalising the fruit-n-vegetable-bhaiyyas i can give more suggestions.
