Issue of Nuclear Accidents
by Narasimhan KV on Apr 13, 2011 12:07 PM

We hear views of persons showing relentless commitment to nuclear power despite the nation not having mastered or a program to contain uncontrolled radioactivity that can arise when the primary cooling systems fail.

There is a distinct possibility of a breach in cooling system in any nuclear installation. Further I do not any credible plan to preserve the spent fuel and other radioactive waste for a prolonged period running to thousands of years.

The economic costs of protecting the society from the radiation has not been discussed or shared with public whose money is looted in the name of nuclear power plant.

If these persons are so confident why have they not commercialized irradiation of food items to lengthen their shelf life. After long decades of research using nuclear energy at low economic cost has not made much progress to win the trust of doubters.

PAID STOOGE :
by Anand A on Apr 13, 2011 12:07 PM

Every Dick in the country knows how an earthquake can destroy the foundations of any structure that is built on the Ground. Esp nuc reactors which are going to emit toxic radiation.

The nuc reactors will be hazordous to have in areas of high population, vegetation, and marine and animal life can be afftected in times of a crisis.

VS.A had supreme confidence in the American Nuc reactors. Point to be noted is that the US will do anything to promote nuc power across the globe to support is corporations but will not install a single reactor themselves. Isnt that an irony!!!!!

The US thinks nuc reactors are unsafe and cannot be shut down/closed, and the human cost too high for them to risk a disastor; but its fine if their corporations sell them to the third world for good money.

People in third world are equal to cockroaches, thats the value of life placed on us by the US.

Deaths and destruction from N-plant disasters spans over few decades, unlike the way it is with earthquake/tsunami. elementary sasidharan Nambiar. Check out Chernobyl for a primer on N-plant disaster instead of waiting for another one to happen.
