corruption
by Lakshmanan Kalimedukaliannagoun on Apr 14, 2011 03:39 PM  | Hide replies

politicians, bureaucrats & the common man are corrupt. Can u identify honest Indian anywhere? Can anyone say he has not bribed to get things done dishonestly?

Start with officials from bottom to top & not the otherway about. Commonman will develop confidence to live free from corruption. Next ask all gazetted officers to declare their property in website as in Bihar. Thirdly elucit the list of government houses still occupied illegally by the bureaucrats and the politicians.
Then let us go further with cofidence if we can succeed upto this level.

You can never tackle corruption bottom to top. When the BOSS is corrupt whatever action you take against the subordinates, you can never erase corruption. Corruption percolates from top to bottom.

Youths of india can do that. Fight out corruption all out. There are thousands of unemploed eduated indians. We want a rule officals caught in corruption must be punished with freeze of all assets of his and his kins and allocate jobs to youth who catch them in any acts of corruptions. This army of educated youths will kill the gaint corruption in no time. Suspension, enquiry and reinstalling with salary in supension is anct of promoting Corruption, this should go.

Business Standard - A mouthpiece for Con-gress?
by Vijay Sahani on Apr 14, 2011 02:57 PM  | Hide replies

Kanika Dutta has written an article in Business Standard basically saying that emulating Anna hazare is "naively utopian" and that "Civil society may be better off lobbying for faster liberalisation than another cumbersome institution".

What is liberalisation? Isn't institutionalisation of Lok Pal to check uncontrolled corruption of the politicians, buraeucracy and judiciary liberalisation? What does she want to liberalise? Does she want to liberate the corrupt from the "wishes of the aam aadmi"? Does she want that the Parliament be liberated from the public opinion?

Few days back the editor of Business Standard, Sanjay Baru, had written that the method adopted by Anna Hazare was undemocratic! Is agitating in a peaceful manner undemocratic? When Parliament fails to do the job given to it by the constitution (namely to govern in a clean manner which is in public interest), is it undemocratic to "force" the Parliament to do something which it should have done on it's own in the first place?

I used to think that Business Standard is one of the better Business newspaper in india. Now i have changed my mind.

Achievements of 62 year democracy:

1. our land is ruled by politicians who are not even graduates.
2. each politician can loot of the order of 170000 crores.
3. Common people poor and middle class are raped every day by system.
4. People beg to live. Pick up change thrown by politicians and vote for them.
5. We have lowest class infrastruction while countries which were most backward are now having top class infrastructure.
6. People still live on Rs20.per day. Poor people Rs 20/month.
7. More beggers than any other country.
8. latest schemes to loot money.
9. Worlds number one scammers live here.
10. Place for crooks.
11. STagnation every where and stinks if you step on streets.
12. Trees are destroyed every day while other country's are replanting.
13. People have to stand in queue for water to drink. Many dont get.
14. Excellent power supply. Blackout every day.
15. Most roads dont have proper signs and signals. even today major towns have very few signals.
16. Brain drain every day. Brilliant people leave country and work abroad. DOnt want to come back for fear of our system and politicians.
17. We wait for freebies during election. Even Kovanam (underwear of Tamilnadu ) has to be offered free during elections.
18. People cannot work and earn their living.
19. People have lost all self esteem and self belief and beg at politicians to throw pieces of bread to pick up.

GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS OF DEMOCRACY OVER 62 years. Today Tewari bastd was telling

2.Once the King told his subjects to pour a glass of Milk in a jar to be given to the poor children.Every one thought that let others pour milk, and i alone will pour water, and no will will notice it.In the morning when the King opened the jar, there was only water, and no milk.

My view is 'yatha raja tatha praja". People emulate successful people. If people succeed by using unscrupulous means and the law cannot do anything, common man will naturally follow the same path. Expecting a common man who has limited resources but has high aspirations (almost 99% of the population) to be ethical when he sees ethical people being hounded while corrupt people succeeding in life, is to expect the impossible.

Change the system. Hold the powerful accountable. Improve Law and Order. Make it easy for honest man to succeed in life. You will then gradually see the change happening amongst common people also. To change the system (tilted in favour of the rich and powerful), there is no other way except to agitate, peacefully.

Democracy
by arungopal agarwal on Apr 14, 2011 12:58 PM  | Hide replies

In last 60 years, our constituion has failed to deliver justice, people do not have faith in Police/judiciary. Soul of Dr. Ambedkar is most disturbed, sons and grandsons of beneficiaries are getting all benefits of reservation, where is social equality and chance to come forward by the needy. indiscipline/corruption/criminality is a part of political system. In order to provide peace to the souls of great leaders Gandhi and constitution writer Ambedar, bring drastic political and administrative reforms, else face everywhere naxal like situation everywhere in due course of time.

Are we a true democracy?
by Jai Babu on Apr 14, 2011 12:45 PM  | Hide replies

We, Indians have a habit of deifying our heroes & leaders. Look how Gandhi and later Nehru & his family have been deified and set on impossibly high pedestals with sycophantic & hysterical worshipers. Nobody can deny the contributions of Nehru, Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi made for the country. But is there no alternative beyond them. How Indira tried to foist Sanjay Gandhi on the nation. And sycophants chanting the family name to cling on to power. This is what allowed a non-entity like Sonia to become the Congress President and run a puppet PM's government through remote control and a kitchen cabinet like the NAC which consists of Sonia's hand picked intellectuals & chatterati and Page 3 social activists. What we have landed up due to all this is the most inept, callous, insensitive and corruption tainted crony-capitalistic regime ever!
And this deification does not stop. Mobs run by so called protectors of Ambedkar's good name attacked Anupam Kher's house because he made some comments on the Indian Constitution which was compiled & collated by Ambedkar. Can anyone rationally analyse or write critical reports on anybody from Gandhi to Ambedkar to Sardar Patel or Anna Durai or even Shivaji Mahraj without facing mob attacks?

Democracy cannot be reduced to just TYRANNY of the MAJORITY.

We are politically free only, our total democratic system is prejudiced to caste, creed, language, region etc., it is vote bank politics, national issues are secondary. Division is made everywhere to retain the power. Police/judiciary could not bring confidence of people, no policy on population, employment, corruption, terrorism etc.,etc., therefore people like Anna gets importance, as Govt. as well as politicians are apathetic to basic problems.SWARAJ is far away.
