India plans nuclear expansion
by Subhash Niyogi on May 10, 2011 07:47 PM

It is debated and vehemently opposed by scientists the world over after the Chernobyl and Fukushima disaster that nuclear power ambitions are a direct challenge to nature. All means to avert any catastrophic buildup of pressure and heat are defied due to elements not anticipated. There will be more unknown in store for the future.26/11 has proved that our shores are vulnerable to spectacular enemy attacks. When we know all what is said why hesitate to review the commitment to the nuclear deal with something like alternate sources of energy with abundance of biomass as fuel.We are a near tropical country with all types of seasons seen nowhere else. The mutilation of available resources with a non acceptable bet is real foolish with the changed times and present global scenario.Policy makers are bent upon breaking protests rather than viewing the other better options

as someone here said,

..problems in asia.
When a videshi such as ghoras (of middle-east religions and euro) gets into town to make good out of that place for themselves, be it africa or asia or americas. First thing they do is to sow seeds of division if it cannot find division. whatever it takes to do it by conversion, ideology, conservation, jobs, technology or "something lacking". It gives them chance to engage or wage war. They make x consider y is different and despise/out-caste him, yet find ways and means to benefit from both x and y directly or indirectly by making them dependent on him by various means or by various blocks.
this problem would have never happened if we had wise Asian leaders who developed trust, made better life and controlled population. We could have something like asia NATO without videshis with pak-india-china to begin with. But videshis (including middle-east/europe/etc) rRaped the psyche of asia deeply and made them divided and dependent. Now videshis have make greedy desi brokers for them in our desh for products, weapons, consultancy, practices, etc.

nuclear...
by A Singh on Apr 13, 2011 12:00 AM  | Hide replies

nuclear energy will become a nightmare for India. reasons:
1. Economically its not for us. the energy produced is very expensive
2. No sustainable knowledge on storing used nuclear material. Its stored 1000s of meters underground, still we know it reached ground in a few years.
3. there are too many unknowns in nuclear areas
4. India is corrupt. Any measure taken by govt is doubtful that its been implemented.
5. Foreign powers are trying to push outdated technology and make money out of poor India.
6. the list can go on....
but Japan shows that if an advanced country like japan with almost 0 corruptiuon cannot handle it and has failed..India with 100times more population is heading towards disaster of unknown proportions...

If similar disaster as Japan (god forbid and have mercy on Indians and the world)More then million will be dead and generations co come will suffer the aftermath.
We indians could not handle the disaster of Bhopal and are still fighting for compensation after 26 odd years and people of Bhopal are still suffering.
Just imagine what will happen when a Nuclear disaster happens in India.
40% of India will be a no go area and will be contaminated for 1000s of years to come.
India and indians can live with corruption (has done for last 260 years)but can't live with a nuclear disaster.

And indian needs to make it 0% and go develop way to produce solar hydrogen.

as someone said,
Scandinavian countries have changed their economy so excess energy consuming industries and transports are reduced. their consumption patterns are smart as well to prevent excess junk and waste. Be less consumer. Use more by-cycles, etc.

Instead of giving out cash for votes why not give a Solar panel system to the voters, it will be more useful.
Give a tax incentive (like west is doing) Install a solar panel and your cost will be refunded through tax that is your income will not be taxed say for next 2 years.

Asian world is becoming a beggar look Far East or west serves no
by E darwin on Apr 12, 2011 09:31 AM

Look east or west serves no good, Japan is cold as ice. Every country in ASEAN is only for themselves.
INDIANS NEED NOT LOOK EAST OR WEST for their good.
Look at phillipines, they take jobs all over Asia (middle-east, Papua New guinea, Australia). But their sites only qualify a person of Philippines for those jobs.

On top of that, Philippines are multiplying like rats and going all over the world on basis on religion. Same with every ASEAN county be it Indonesia or Thailand.

So it is only India that is very liberated. We allow bangladesis, lankans, pakistanis, etc. ASEAN countries are just not like that.

the new emerging top management jobs in Middle-eastern, ASEAN, china and hongkong and central asia are now controlled by Angrez/videshi. And desis depend on those crumbs and dont have their own strategic planning of how videshis are cutting deals via aid/charity/investment/technology/military-security/trade/etc.

Shiould we LOOK EAST at these selfish and beggar ASEAN nations?

Sites like jobstreet and workabroad DOT ph
these are all the "world/Austalia/Asian" jobs sSucked/rRobbed by ASEAN for themselves only. Indians dont matter at all.

I suppose only angrez/american and Arabs and European missionaries/colonizers/converters know how to fix them.

INDIANS NEED NOT LOOK EAST OR WEST. just only look at themselves, control population and we should be fine.

India plans nuclear expansion
by kv raghuram on Apr 12, 2011 09:11 AM  | Hide replies

Earth quake and tsunami are lethal combination for any nuclear reactor in the world, to throw out of gear. As most of the Nuclear reactors are located near the sea shore, their vulnerability to tsunami proportionately increase. The disasters at Chernobyl and Fukushima Nuclear facilities must make us sit up and think in terms of more fool-proof measures to protect our existing as well as the proposed ones, to help make them less vulnerable to natural calamities. The Government of India, must not hide or attempt to cover up any flaws in the existing nuclear reactors in terms of their unbridled nuclear radiation arising out of coolant malfunction and overheating

Commission from foreign companies is the only factor in deciding this. else why would the indigenously developed pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWR) which have proven repeatedly to be better then imported ones be used to the minimal.

nuclear power tech still in its infancy and messy
by Raghavendra Bhat on Apr 12, 2011 08:49 AM

The uncontrollable nuclear reaction inside the failed BWR reactors at Fukushima is causing a multitude of issues, problems keep up cropping unexpectedly. Relevant sources say that there is a strong possibilty of the molten core having had breached all of its containment barriers and have had reached water
level. The worst fear of that having happened now looks real and scary. The Govt. of India should well note this development and stop dead in its tracks on deploying the "boiling water reactors" at Jaitapur and elsewhere.

Strong audit measures are called for in Tarapur, particularly the storage bin of plutonium spent rods. If the USA fails to take back the spent rods, mechanisms have to be devised to move the rods away from the seaward area of the Tarapur reactors. The GoI should consult the USA for effective disposal of these spent fuel rods without much delay and dither.

Nuclear power technology has failed to deliver and the Expert Committee constitiuted by the GoI has to scrap all ambitious plans to deploy nuclear reactors.
