Rahul has gone to town claiming that VS Achuthanandan is too old but what about his ally the wheelchair bound blind bat Karunanidi or a doddering 78yr old puppet PM at the Center?
Baba log like Rahul Gandhi should think before they speak. But on second thoughts, the poor fellow probably doesn't have that faculty!

These Rahul Gandhi types do have a cushy life. A few seats won in UP and Rahulji was a star, the new hope. Bihar was an absolute disaster for the Congress, but RAHULJI was not at fault. The party found other scape goats! Rahulji passed disparaging comments about Hindu-terror being more dangerous than the Let or JuD or Indian Mujahideen and immediately Diggy Raja jumps in to save him. Did RAHULJI utter a single word on the CWG scam, 2G Spectrum scam, Adarsh scam or Vilasrao Deshmuk being promoted even after severe strictures or even the recent Jan Lokpal bill related movement? All Rahulji has to do is whizz around the country in helicopters or plush SUVs, wave at a few hero-worshiping sycophants and he becomes the GREAT NEW HOPE and the Supreme Leader!! I can almost sense Sonia bursting with motherly pride!

When UP was won, the media made him star. When Bihar was lost, he was roundly blamed. If you haven't seen them, you should read some archives in rediff.
On the road day after day, living out of suitcase and dining at the roadside is your idea of cushy life?
Why is it imperative for Rahul to comment on everything? He goes around campaigning for his party and when he is asked questions, he responds. He is not a noise maker/hell raiser like Sushma. Who said Rahul hasn't spoken against corruption? Perhaps you should pay attention to what he says before giving in to your urge to post in rediff.

I challenge you to show me a single authenticated statement that Rahul has made on CWG, Adarsh, 2G, S-band, Jan Lokpal, etc. The Congress may be a fiefdom or private limited company of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty but this country is not the private property of any family. Rahul Gandhi may be well meaning but what are his educational qualifications, what is his track record on social issues or politics? Just like a Birla or Bajaj or Jindal pass on the control of their companies to the next generation in the familiy, people are already talking about rahul being suited to be PM. That is what many of us resent.

I don't understand this insistence on Rahul needing to comment on specific issues. I can give you hundreds of links where Rahul has spoken against corruption and quite sensibly, without the rabble rousing and rhetoric. And this is what I like in him most. Practical and in touch with issues. If anyone has doubt about Rahul's educational qualifications giver in his affidavit, he/she can challenge it in court. Why no one does that? Even the propagandists of BJP who spread nasty rumors about him are not doing that. Why? Also, Rahul has several times spoken about the dynasty thing. He has addressed it face on and told that it wasn't ideal. If you want to know his sincerity, you should look into Youth Congress. Kith and kin of old leaders are not those chosen by him for top posts. (Hybi Eden notwithstanding). He tried to keep dynasty in AP (Jagan Reddy). Look where it landed the party?

We, Indians have a habit of deifying our heroes & leaders. Look how Gandhi and later Nehru & his family have been deified and set on impossibly high pedestals with sycophantic & hysterical worshipers. Nobody can deny the contributions of Nehru, Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi made for the country. But is there no alternative beyond them. How Indira tried to foist Sanjay Gandhi on the nation. And sycophants chanting the family name to cling on to power. This is what allowed a non-entity like Sonia to become the Congress President and run a puppet PM's government through remote control and a kitchen cabinet like the NAC which consists of Sonia's hand picked intellectuals & chatterati and Page 3 social activists. What we have landed up due to all this is the most inept, callous, insensitive and corruption tainted crony-capitalistic regime ever!

A section of Congressmen wants to keep the dynasty alive and powerful, because they need the support of someone powerful, having lost the touch with people themselves. Since it is impossible to speak out against former greats of INC, everyone has to follow the line. But one can't deny that the family keeps Congress united. BJP has Hinduism, commies have Marxism...what is Congress' ism? Pluralism maybe, but that is not easily explained to masses who take it for granted and have known it all through the decades. It isn't easy to explain the concept of INC without bringing the family into picture. As Rahul says, not ideal, but that is how it is. Sonia has never been a leader or an intellectual or a visionary. He position in the party is as a unifying force. But I see her son as a sincere person. Avoids limelight and media whereas others crave for it. I for one believe he should try to become UP's CM first before setting his sights higher. MMS-Sonia arrangement is the similar arrangement CPM has in Kerala between VS and Pinarayi.

Give-an-id, I clearly mentioned that he was an ally. Achudanandan is hale & hearty and in control of his faculties while Karunanidhi is old, nearly blind and wheelchair bound. A man may be healthier at 88 than at 78.

Rahul would probably say the same about Karuna if he wasn't an ally. He can only influence what Congress does. And you might have noticed the number of Youth Congress nominees contesting this election.

Congress dumped the RJD and LJP in Bihar on the strenght of Rahul-ji's conviction. Why did the Congress not go it alone in Tamil Nadu. Why did Rahul-ji, the paragon of virtue let his mother and the PM share a dais with Karunanidhi when the CBI raided Kailagnar TV owned by his wife and daughter???

No one believed that Congress will come to power in Bihar on its own. Rahul's decision was part of his overall strategy to go alone in places where Congress is understrength. I think it is a good idea, to do to regional parties what they have been doing to Congress for years. Also, the news is that Rahul was of the opinion to go solo in TN too. His YC cadres welcomed the idea, but the old heads couldn't wait for a share of power.
Rahul's focus has been mostly on YC. And it is reported that Sonia and Rahul are not on the same page on all issues. Rahul has not been much active in Congress machinery, his focus and interest lies with YC and NSU.
