farted through his 'panni' mouth a few days ago that the CPM and the BJP have 'tied up' for clubbing their votes in Kerala !!!
This was something that was tough for even the stupidest among commoners to swallow, given the diametrically opposite idealogical stands of the two parties.
Now, with the media reporting widely that the BJP and the Congress led UDF entered into a clandestine vote clubbing arrangement in 25 seats, the cat is out of the bag !!
This clandestine arrangement, by which the BJP workers will shrink into the background in 23 of these seats and cross vote for the UDF candidates and the Congress will 'return the favour' in two seats to make the BJP realise its long cherished dream of opening its account in the Kerala assembly, is very much in keeping with the practice witnessed in the previous assembly elections in 2006 too !
So, Mr. 'Panni'thala's enterprise with his tongue to divert the attention of the people from this arrangement by talking about an arrangement between the CPM and the BJP (how ridiculous it sounds!) turned out to be a less than clever ploy !!
The panni face may not grin at the people much longer in the manner it has been grinning for sometime now, mouthing lies, inanities and articulating his arrogance !! There is already a 'VS' wave building up in the state and 'panni' and 'chundy' must do much better than braying out lies and bringing their white lady from Delhi to mouth even more lies !!

The deafeningly shrill manner in which this ipso-facto party paper of the Congress has been 'reporting' and 'commenting' on the election scenario in Kerala state is perhaps the most instructive lesson in very crude and partisan journalism !!!

The BJP in Kerala is feverishly trying to have the cake and eat it too !
While it is ever so busy trying to corner the 'hindu vote bank' (perhaps secretly hoping that the hindus will forget about 'silly' issues such as economic justice, etc. and vote on religious lines like voters do in large numbers in other less politically conscious states), it is also trying to pocket some christian votes too !
Several of the BJP candidates in the 40 odd constituencies it is contesting from are christians ! It has also 'pocketed' Mr.Alphons Kannanthanam, till recently with the LDF, and promptly made him state secretary when several of its long serving workers are waiting to be rewarded !
Have cake and eat it too !

Unfortunately, double speak does not work in Kerala unlike in other states ! And the BJP, despite a number of experiences to that effect, is much too foolish to understand this fact !!

cristina and mulsim voters vote religious lines in large numbers in kerala, which is most politically conscious states. why can't hindus ?

One is cleanliness in public areas ! Wherever one travels in India, there is the unchanged visual of dirt and dirty handling ! The Indian commoner (even the educated and reasonably well off one) regards the entire space outside his home as one big dumpyard for litter and dirt ! This phenomenon doubtless varies in extent from place to place (T.N, A.P, U.P etc. and all big cities are horrendously dirty while the scenario is much less grim in states such as Kerala) but the script does not change at all. The writer Khushwant Singh commented once in the 'Times of India' that India is one of very few countries in the world where one can detect the presence of cockroaches in the kitchens of five star hotels !! Dirt and grime are tolerated as integral and inevitable parts of one's life by the Indian commoner.
It is perhaps because the Indian psyche is so conditioned to tolerate extreme dirt & grime in public areas that Indian commoners also unfailingly tolerate extreme corruption in public life !!
The nation's treasury and resources may be getting systematically robbed and robbed in broad daylight; but all that most Indian commoners will have to talk about is the scraps of 'development' thrown his way by those who pillage the nation in such fashion !!
Like cleanliness in luxury hotels and in public areas, cleanliness in public life is so alien to the average Indian psyche !!
