I think congress will pay a heavy price in the coming elections fo supoorting the tainted representatives of CWG in our country..... world is spitting on the government but still they are insenstitive to such a grave misdeed and shoddy presentation of a game.

Someone rightly said in his comment-the country is being raped repeatedly by the politicians. It would have been better if the administration of this country was run by English or Japs for a period of 2 terms.....Winston churchill had rightly said that this country would go to scavengers and so we see it hapenning ! The big wigs will go scot free due to the jammed legal system and the administration which is the most corrupt in the world. No wonder 2 trillion $ of indian wealth is lying outside the country....

Shoddy Indian standards
by ashok leyland on Sep 22, 2010 02:47 PM  | Hide replies

Happily we have arrived at the bottom of the pit and the entire world is addressing the Indian leadership's incompetent behaviour and demanding accountability, something we Indians have been unable or unwilling to do since we became independent. Now finally the government will be forced to take action if we Indians are ever to hold up our heads. All the goodwill achieved by the IT industry will disappear if the govt. does not do something fast. Indian credibility is already low it will be minus zero.
So Indians should kick the govt into doing their jobs properly and not lining their own pockets. As for saying that the West has other standards than we do, it is obvious. Our govt. expects us to live in filth and mosquito breeding squalour, for them it is normal, well, news flash for our govt.: this is NOT ACCEPTABLE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD EXCEPT IN INDIA. LOOK AT CHINA AND LEARN.
Once again our country has shown the world we are unable to rise to the occasion. Our own athletes (if any) should refuset to participate. That would add to the kick in the backsides the people in charge and the govt. richly deserve.
Finally Delhi is NOT India. When will our govt. understand that?

I think in the democracy we are being cheated by the so called elected representatives.... to much leeway for the elected representatives and reductant constitution and redundant laws make it ealier for the wrongdoers to live happily in our country than the law abiding citizen.

well written, Ashok. Out of the 500 odd elected MPs 80% have a criminal record. They come elected from on what basis? caste, creed, hatred, subdivision etc by fooling the millions of illiterates....for them it is business! They come from the darkest of corners where development is just an illusion/delusion. For them Commonwealth village is like heaven on earth. If only they knew what international standards were. If only they could peep out from their wells of their regional fiedoms. "For evil to flourish, all that is needed is for good
people to do nothing." Edmund Burke. So dear friends, its time we look back into the real India and the grass root problems .....try to enlighten the average voter of good governance. We have to start somewhere. CW games is just the tip of the iceberg. The real threats are all over the country..Naxals, Kashmir,Bodo, Assam, Gorkhaland,Ayodhya to name a few !

Are we only worried about the Games ?
by kulmohan singh on Sep 21, 2010 07:41 PM  | Hide replies

Is there anyone worried about the condition of these poor labourers who have families and children of their own to attend to ? Come up and say so, if you think that our government should provide a reasonable financial compensation to these labourers who are being pushed into frantic and madly rushed up construction activity at the eleventh hour, even under the ongoing rains in Delhi.

Mahatma Gandhi, father of our nation, once said- "if you are ever in doubt about the outcome of your considered action, just recall the sight of the poorest person you have ever seen in your lifetime, if you then get to think that your considered action will impact that person in a positive manner, then go ahead and do that action."

" Coming events cast their shadows before ", listen carefully/attentively to the blowing trumpet of nature warning against the holding of common wealth games well before the inauguration day lest we may have to bow our heads in shame before the world for the incompetence being thrust upon our engineering capabilities owing to insufficient time allowed to the personnel engaged for the completion of projects. Delhi is a pain in the back
by Harinarayan on Sep 21, 2010 06:54 PM  | Hide replies

Why every god damn event has to be organized in Delhi? There are many more states and better places than Delhi where the organizing could have been done far better and more grander. Next in line is Formula1 circuit in Delhi! What nonsense is going on? Corruption seems to be starting from the hairtip till the toe nail!

Their cricket stadium is a shithole. Their CWG venue is in a mess. Next they want to screwup the Formula1 as well!

Delhi is a curse for India.
