But no tolerance for fellow Hindus.....
by devedas bhaskar on Sep 09, 2010 05:20 PM  | Hide replies

Yes we treated Jews , Parsis and Christians very well when they landed in india from overseas many years ago.. But we treated our own fellow Hindus of the lower castes who constituted 90% of all Hindus so badly...so much for our tolerance....!

Intolerance you are talking about is nothing but money gap.
In olden days we have the so called yadavs, kakatiyas who are BCs ruling India as kings.

Today most dalits are very poor people and poverty is given the same treatment through out the world.

K R Narayan,Ambedkar,Speaker of the house Meera and many others have done wonders in our country.

We are all proud of them and we all have to understand that castes were formed for one reason,ie based on occupation.

But its not the case today.Today brahmans are cleaning toilets in North India and are very poor through out the country, yadavs are ruling the roost.

I totally understand that dalits have an insecurity feeling in their hearts but of them, the rich ones are not insecure.

So by and large, society is changing and its getting clear to everyone that its poverty that causes any discrimination

I agree with you. And I am sorry about that. But things are changing my dear Devedas, though slowly. I have many brahmin friends who hate their own community for the evil caste system their fathers have created. Just stay with Hinduism and time is not far we all will be united. By the way I am from a scheduled caste.

Hindus, Budhists, Sikhs and Jains are expected to be tolarent
by Ramadas on Sep 09, 2010 04:57 PM

Those who have absorbed alien faiths, with Hindu ancestors, expect Hindus, Budhists, Sikhs and Jains to be tolerant. They will demand and we are supposed to give in so as not upset the peace. Otherwise, one can expect ones hand to be chopped off. These lackeys of looters, who came over the Khyber Pass, demand ownership of looted temples etc.

You seem to have hit the nail on the head,Sir.Tolerance is just one side of the coin. The other side is indifference, lethargy, and worse.A severely honest look at ourselves is absolutely necessary to avoid succumbing to these deadly traps of self-glorification laid for us by cynical politicians for their own purposes.

Cant say whether it is tolerance or indifference when we-
a)dont beat up auto/taxi guys when they refuse fares
b)dont beat up people driving on the wrong side in case of a jam and endangering other's lives
c)dont scold people who spit/ throw trash in public areas
d)dont beat up public officer who openly ask for bribes
e)dont beat up politicians who are dividing out country in the name of region and religion or caste

and the list keeps going on...

Dont beat up anyone, its none of your business and you dont have the right to hurt a fellow human being.

But there should be a collective responsibility which is totally different than hurting an individual..

We can resent bad actions in Gandhigiri style,or we can choose another better way of resentment, like socially banning those people.

for Example:If some one drives on the wrong side, spit and throw trash on roads,or there is a corrupt police officer, take their pictures and make posters and show them in Media and insult them. That much is enough.

When a country gives shelter to people fleeing persecution, as Parsees, Jews and others have, that is certainly tolerant. Where is an example of tolerance by your standards?

by juxtaposer@rediffmail.com on Sep 09, 2010 04:19 PM

All those people spreading hatred using rumours from Deganga, please do not do it any further. The govt and media are right in not reporting it becos any reports can fuel riots in rest of India. It is localised riots. Please do not allow it to start in your areas. Nobody likes riots.
