Government should come to his aid and provide him alternate employment as also prosecute the college management if possible. At least the Government should cancel all and any grants being given to that college. Also the Chief Minister of Kerala should provide some ex-gratia say Rs. 1 lakh or so to this victim of Taliban persecution so that immediately he can look after his health and basic necessities.

The administration of Newman College should nave checked the draft question paper before printing or atleast before distributing to the examinees. What action is being contemplated for this pathetic episode? It is a pity that dirty politics have creeped-in most of the religions that preach love, compassion and forgiveness. They do not stand to fight for justice. What is preached is not practised. As Swami Vivekananda said that an ounce of practice is greater than tons of all promises. Let the religious examine their own conscience whether they follow the scripture of their religions or obey the dictates of the radicals and fundamentalists. I wish not to be a part of a religion that oversees the wrongs done as a mute spectator. Justice has become a cheap commoditity at the hands of inhumane hearts. I hate the God that asks its devotees to take revenge and destroy own His subject.
Kerala is already a mini-Pakistan now controlled by Islamic fundamentalists. Other communities are living in fear and submissive to these group of terrorists. It is going in the same way as Kashmir and these people will one day declare Kerala as another Islamic counry. Whatever be the follies of this Prof. Joseph, the Union HRD ministry, the local state Govt. and the Church should have come to his rescue and rehab long time back. Firstly, it is the duty of the local govt to provide complete security to its people and it has failed miserably in this. If it meant something to its people, it should have located his severed hand and got him the best of medical attention to restitch the same by now either in India or in the US or got him an artificial hand. Secondly, the Churches keep getting fat dona-tions from the Vatican and other overseas organizations that can easily be used to rehab this unfortunate Prof. Lastly, the HRD Ministry loves to pour out homilies on every Teacher's Day but what has it done for this unfortunate Prof other than stand as a mute spectator ? As a fellow Indian, I am truly ashamed.

I stand corrected. I understand the Prof.'s severed hand was stitched back in time. Thank God for this. Ideally, the local government or the local churches should have taken care of all these expenses besides prevailed upon his college to take back the dismissal order. What has the local Govt done so far to nab the culprits ?
