Dear parsi brothers, you can keep your culture up and we indians will be most happy to accept you with that. To please 'secular' media you need not break 'stereotypes'(!!) of kurta-pajama or whatever little traditions you are holding up to. You dont have to prove your peaceful and progressive standpoint to our id10t fanatic media. Fun is always welcome .. it can come from relgon or from other culture...its your wish, we respect that.

Yeah, India is a free country, if people don't like your Parsi kurta pyjama they can close their eyes or settle down in Afghanistan. If you love to do dahi hundi that's nice too.

Do NOT force parsis to adopt any religion . South Gujarat did force them over the centuries to speak Gujarati and they had to let go their original laguage Farsi . Their religion is one of the oldest and it is their duty to follow it. If they are willing to incorporate other ritual it should be left to them and they should not be coerced by anybody.

Absolutely .. but language is always a different issue. Its very difficult to survive without the real homeland..this goes away with the patronage. Anyway forcing is always bad, and farsi was forced on the indian clerks as well during mughal times and british era. However in this case i really doubt gujarati was forced, it might be needed to do business with locals at that time. Parsis should follow their relgon, we are most happy if they do, specially when very few of them are left to adhere to this old tradition. But its really upto them how they will do it.

There is definitely a element of depression in Parsis (you can sense it when you meet them) loss of language being one of the reasons.
The parsi population has not grown as well All this definitely does not point to a healthy scenario for Parsis in south gujarat or elsewhere.

Yes the way we celeberate that 20%'s festivals...Just dont bring religion every where...Parsis are doing it for fun..Let them do it n enjoy...its good but dont mix religion n ask others also to do what you might find good..

U r wrong, a lot of minority takes part in kaffir festivals, wear good dresses and enjoy..sometimes they even organize it, i have seen it in my place. Dont read about indian muzlms from paki news.
Dahi Handi, Diwali, Navaratri, Baisakhi and Rakhi are all customs. All Indians, irrespective of religious hue, must increasingly celebrate these festivals jointly. It helps reinforce our Indianess and instills harmony in society. What the Parsis have done in Mumbai is laudatory.

Well said, Imtiaz, the greatness of India lies in its many cultures and customs. Despite some problems here and there, Indian vitality remains alive and thriving. What the Parsis, a fun loving and friendly people, have done, is commendable. Hats off to them.
