Devdutt Nayak
an interesting experiment - a lesson from Bihar
by Devdutt Nayak on Nov 26, 2010 05:18 PM  | Hide replies

1.
We have a National flower, National animal, National flag with a wheel in it, National sport, and some more.

The 2 big changes in the world since the Medieval ages are medicines/chemicals and machines/technology.

In the future, we will be adopting more and more technology. These include genetic modifications, tailor-made medicine, robotic/electromechanical implants.

2.
India has scientists and equipment to send a probe to the Moon. This is a *really* big achievement.

India is the land of knowledge, ancient science and advanced spiritual lifestyle.
Good science is the door to the spiritual world.

3.
We need people to be self-sufficient and creative. We want Indians, rural and urban, to make new machines and devise new tricks to solve energy problems.

4.
Time and again, around the world, bicycles have been a huge part of socio-economic change.

Keeping these things in mind, I want to suggest that in order to promote self-sufficiency and creative mechanical innovation,

India must declare a National Machine, or a National Device, just like National flag with wheel in it (Wheel is for spiritual truths, I know)

The 1st National Device should be the bicycle.

This is symbolic and replaces the sickle of farmers - because now we need energy and transport.

Many symbols are economically useless.
Many machines are symbolically repulsive.

People identify with bicycles easily.
You can loan or gift bicycles easily.

What do you think?

I THINK NITISH KUMAR IS NARENDRA MODI OF BIHAR. NOW UTTAR PRADESH IS THE WORST STATE IN INDIA. NOT BIHAR.
AS A MAHARASHTRIAN IT IS GOOD TO SEE OTHER INDIAN STATES ARE ALSO DEVELOPING.

Resurgent Bihar
by RAJSHEKHAR UPADHYAY on Nov 24, 2010 06:25 PM

Lip service wont do any more in India. By re-electing Nitish into power, Biharis have exhibited that they have learnt to pick & choose the best leader unlike the rest of India, which still elects leaders like Mayawati. People are also looking forward to action oriented political parties who are serious about development. The Biharis have rejected the caste & religion based politics & have demonstrated to the nation about their sound judgement.

Last 5 years, people of Bihar have been voting for development. But rest of "developed" states like TN and AP - people are voting based on freebies and caste. Maybe Bihar is slowly turning the corner. Hope the "developed" people in other states will also wake up to people that divide us based on caste.

Not "grammer" but "grammar". You point taken and reverting it back. Anyway, AP people have been fooled by Congress into schemes and now we have all the problems. I feel really bad to say that "Hyderabad" has roads full of pot holes, lowest quality roads, dividers, which are obstacles, no proper footpath. Footpath taken by hawkers/Shopkeeper, Goondaism.

Andhra Pradesh do not have proper electricity, basic infrastructure. We are having unofficial powercut. High price of electricity in peak hours (Due to incompetence of the Govt. to provide), no special drives to check or control. Lack of proper signal lights. I can write few pages on the pathetic conditions of the Hyderabad. This Govt.(Cong) is the worst Govt. we are having. I hope who will rescue our AP.

Well said dost. I would like to mention that marathis have only one problem they are so eccentricand egoist, they feel taht marathis only knoows everything. Mumbai is of everybody. If all non marathis leave mumbai, then mumbai will be a mere useless land. That they will never accept. One should live with harmony and love and not that you, your language, your state is the only great thing in this world. We may be not as strong as he in English so he may again point out something in this subject too.
Hail India Hail.
