Options for Mumbaikers
by hinduhitler on Oct 13, 2010 07:54 AM

Digital meters should be made compulsory, then the tampering will be zero.
autos who refuse short distance can be reported at call center for complaint against auto/taxis make use of it, its very effective, I have made rogue drivers behaving like saints now.
sit inside the auto and take them to nearest police station.
Last option which can be used if ur able bodied, beat the hell out of him, and beat his other auto drivers who come to help him too and walk away.
I exercise the last options too when its way past midnight. At midnight these people are scared bec they r in ur area.
So best of luck

Laminated Tariff Card should be pasted behind drivers seat
by abdul narayan on Oct 12, 2010 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

Why simple things like pasting a laminated tariff card behind the drivers seat in both taxi and auto so that the passenger can read and confirm the tariff instantly is not done is a mystery. In all these years RTO office has not thot of any simple innovation like this. Duffers.

The govt has also given them an unnecessary hike. A ride of 6.50 on the meter becomes 87 rupees on the new tariff. Earlier it was only 64 rupees. Means they have got a 40% hike. Isnt this unreasonable.

They must teach a lesson!
by AKB on Oct 12, 2010 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

The Taxi and auto drivers in Mumbai, mostly fro UP and Bihar are most cheat, dishonest and arrogant people present!
They must be driven out immediately and the local people must be given licence and permit.
Everything will be come on track.
In this regard Raj Thackeray's intervenes is necessary, in present scenario, he is the only person having sympathy for common people.

Local people refuse to ply Autos and Taxis as a result of which the vaccum is filled-in by the UP/Bihari's.
Before we do all this, there has to be dignity of labour in India. Thenlocal people will not mind taking up these jobs....

You are right,
The Maharashtrian people prefered only government jobs, right from sweeper to bureaucrat in order to get corrupt money.
Even they are not hard worker!
Bhaiyas and Bhiharis are hard worker, but very uncultured and dishonest and if they get majority, they proclaimed themselves King of the day!

so you need one more "re-servation" here for the people who themselves can not (or rather prefer not to) WORK.

BTW, yesterday in pune I took an auto and you know how much "your son of the soil quoted" it was 120 Rs for a distance of 7 Kms.. (for your knowledge let me tell you this distance should cost around 55 Rs).

and finally I got an auto that charged me almost as per meter and he was so polite... you keep guessing it but he was from Gorakhpur (UP).. yes you read it right...

keep fighting for son of soils and then see the day when they provide you their service(??).

You may be right friend.
But this Bhaiyas and Bhiharis are not at all tolerable, because of their arrogant behaviour.
They are auto riders, whenever they sits on their vehicle, they fell they are flying a super fast jet and they are above all, if you call them, they never pay attention to you even or refuse to ply!

I hope this protest to be successful. Maybe Bangalore, Delhi and all other cities will follow suit. NCR is the big crime area. The taxis charge double fare for a one way ride, on the plea that they have to come back and dont get any passengers but indeed they do get

in mumbai the major taxiwalahs are from outside and have little or less knowledge...once the passenger sits inside they ask him for the route and directions...and not to say the least they chew pan and gutka and the smell inside cab is irritating....time for govt to impose ban on consuming tobaco while driving...

I hope it does not rain today, if it does then people will be certainly forced to take one of these. Also the MeterJam day can be observed on a monthly basis, on the Bus day in bangalore so there are ample buses on the streets causing less inconvinience.
