hi, I am Adnan from Sylhet,Bangladesh.. I support secularism movement in B'Desh. I am 100% Muslim, but i feel that minority brothers n sisters should have equal rights just like we do and we have to make sure their voice can be equally heard ..in that way they can we all can live peacefully , We all muslim ppl like our religion whole heartedly..but we should make some space for our minority bro n sis , 'cuz they are also human just like u n me. We should help them as well. A modern country should be secular, but ppl who live in it can practice their own religion peacefully, that's how we will teach our future generation..inshaAllah.
True secularism which is needed for this subcontinents progress should be practised by all its constituent states. Since secularism and freedom is a balance in action, it cannot be firmly established if only one country (india) practices it. Hope pakistan also do away with its bigotry..though it might take another 50 yrs. B'desh always have a number of secular people, artists, writers, activists who are aware of their culture. This is the result of their concerted effort. This effort encourage us also to wipe the discrimination against minorities (as per recent reports, Ms find it difficult to rent home)..keeping the individual rights/choices intact we can be still secular.

That's because the minorities there are too subjugated and battered to demand their minority rights. By the way, Pak has more roit than India, MQM-Sindhi- Sh1a, Sunn! - Pathan roit all over pak.

What were the percentages of members of different religions, how many religious places were there for each religion, at the time of partition? And what are the numbers now? How many forceful conversions were there during this period?

It is because of the present PM, Hasina Sheikh who is a true secular person in a country that is almost full of fanatics. Such a far cry from the days of that demoness BegumKahledaZia.

PORNIES DECLARED THEMSELVES AS PURE AND THEN DEMANDED EVERYTHING TO LIVE LIFE OF A PARADISE WITHOUT WORKING FOR IT! ATLEAST BANGLADESHIS ARE NOT DELUDED.
Society is demonic without religion but even more demonic with too much of it.
Religion has its role in the lives of humans but that is to the extent of spiritual deliverance.
Religion as a basis of state policy is unfair, brutal, parochial, tyrannical and despotic. It is not only unfair to the people of the faith it pretends to espouse, but simply satanically unfair to those who do not adhere to the supposed faith. Society must be fair to all its constituents irrespective of all other persuasions. All human beings must get a fair chance to achieve their economic and social goals in life, according to the potential of each individual.
Hats off to the highest court of Bangladesh and the Government which has reaffirmed its commitment to secular ideals.

Well said, relgon is good as long as it develops goodness in human hearts. If it creates a tool for supremacy such balancing efforts are needed.
