Allies of Congress
by Prem Viswanathan on Nov 26, 2010 08:55 PM  | Hide replies

We are likely to a see a full-circle soon. Almost always, Congress dumps its allies to the extent of killing them and RJD is a case in point. For 15 years, Congress was staunchly supported by Lalu Yaday and he was one of the heroes of the UPA win in 2004. Otherwise, the difference in votes between congress and BJP was only marginal. It were the UPA allies, RJD, JMM, DMK that won them the 2004 elections. However Congress lost no time in dumping those steadfast allies, when it suited them the most. While Cong was party to RJD misrule in Bihar, they suddenly realized Lalu´s corrupt antecedents when they themselves praised him for his showing as the Railways minister in more recent past.

Now that Lalu´s career is almost finished, their next target would be DMK and Trinamul. Eventually Cong would be able to win a majority in the next elections on its own - by communal politics in some cases (as they do in Kerala, UP, J&K etc) and by a allowing prop to counter the opposition (as they did in Punjab in 1970s and more recently in Maharashtra and AP). This can be disasterous for the country as there are no leaders of the strature of Indira Gandhi today who can take a decision even if it means millions of people get hurt or killed.

Dont analyze Nitin yet
by Amit Sharma on Nov 26, 2010 07:14 PM

He has only been in power for few years and achieved a lot. Do not expect him to achieve EVERYTHING in 5 years. Lallu ,Paswan, Congress had several years and they went BACK in development.

laloo now enagages a Harvard grad for analyzing loss
by brainrack on Nov 26, 2010 06:29 PM

The Harvard grad was taken aback when asked by Lalu for a SWOT analysis of why Lalu lost.
The hbs guy said after studing the poll results. you lost because your caste people did not vote, those who voted had favored congress, all the invalid votes were of the loyalist of laloo who were not give any tickets for this election. Rahul factor was the major reason as people were confused whom to select , between a buffa-laloo or a bull -rajiv. nitish had not done anything for past many years and was only sleeping.yet he got all the votes because people could not choose between rahul and laloo. nitish got number seats with bjp to come into. laloo will be in power through a mid-term poll." after reading the report Laloo thought he had one genuine well wisher and paid the hbs guy. The hbs guy laughed at th airport and told his friend...kya lalooo hai, gave him last election feedback -ready report and laloo believed it blindly and paid me half the fees i negotiated. At the other end Laloo was laughing and said to PAswan- you know i got a nice research work done by an hbs guy, he asked for 100000 usd and i asked him to do the work in 75000 usd , he said he is prepared even at 50000 usd and so gave him the money and he gives me the report in quick time. these hbs guys like our PC chiddu dont know how to negotiate." . knowledge wins.

The most difficult part is done. i.e to remove or reduce criminal elements and creating a favourable atmosphere. Bringing the change is the most difficult part but once development momentum picks up. it could be very fast.
