Whatever it was that Obama shared with MMS during their one hour private chat sans even aides, MMS looks like the end of the world is coming soon. Since then he has been silent on lot of vexed issues probably knowing that it does not mean anything in the long or short run to come.
President Obama was not pro India in the run up to the presidency and nearly close to 1.5 years into his presidency.
He seriously believed the solution to the problem in south asia involved the hyphenation of India-Pak-Afghanistan. He believed getting the Kashmir issue solved in favour of Pakistan would help him solve the Af-Pak problem with greater and willing support of the Pak armed forces.
He majorly believed China was a great power with whom he could do business. He felt China could help out the West in coming out of its financial mess, if the US accepted Chinese preminence in not only the Pacific but also in the Indian Ocean coupled with a Chinese role in sorting out the Indo-Pak imbroglio.
It was only when he had first hand experience of Pakistans treacherous and backstabbing designs that he realised Kashmir is not the core to the problem in South Asia. It was the Pak army establishment which in the pursuit of its own self preservation was the fountainhead of all terrorism. It needs to be anti India, pursue a strategic depth policy and remain selective on the fanatics so as to unleash them at will, and that includes US and Nato soldiers.
The Chinese humiliated him during his visit. China did not want to enjoy superpowerdom in hyphenation with the US but to push it down hill using its present ills. China at once wanted to sit on the worlds high table and yet continue its nefarious agenda thru rogue states.

Obama knows that the US's tyrannical reign as the sole superpower is slowly coming to an end. China as is its wont is aping the US in all aspects and wants its hegemony over all and sundry including even the moon. Obama visited China first to hand over the crown but was appalled at the Chinese arrogance and next sought the second best which was India and seeks to pair with India to offset the Chinese influence. This will take a lot of time as India is still retarded by the sanctions on technology transfers that the US and the West imposed on our research institutions while supplying the same to China to manufacture it. Without scruples China usurped all the technology and has improvised on it albeit slightly only, to add to its proclamation as the Superpower to be, similar to the way the US stole all German technologies at the end of World War II. All said and done, the world will have to bear with Chinese belligerence and overbearing tendencies for the next few years till India manages to shake off its sloth and its internal discrepancies ridden with poverty and apathy. Inevitably India will claw upwards despite attempts by the Chinese to set us back by using Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kashmir and anything they can find against us. If India manages to stave off all such issues and stay united and on the path, we will eventually be unstoppable in years to come, maybe 2025 onwards.

Very good post. But the one thing I would like to add is that China is trying to emerge on the world scene in the company of rogue and discredited countries. It is anybodies guess whether the combination will hold.

Yes ,President Obama is also a very good person.Infact I know first hand that ,he went through life in USA as a very ordinary person ,knows very well the importance of a job . I hope President Obama all the best and yes Thank you for visiting India and we appreciate it very much

It does not matter whether Mr. Obama is a good man or otherwise. Most future US President's are going to be initially enamoured by China, to eventually find out it is not a country with which they can do business. Most of them would later come to India.
It would be good for India if any president occupies the white house for two terms because that would then ensure we get our dual use tech items quickly. Every time a President changes, he or she will take their own time to discover the virtues of cultivating India.
We should now target getting the cutting edge research getting shifted to India - outsourcing of R&D using the dual use tech relaxation to eventually transform the country into the forefront of technological innovation. Cost advantages to western multinationals would eventually see this happening in due course.

They have unemployment in their country. How do you expect them to visit centres where their local people feel domestic jobs have been lost to.
All western leaders would show to their local constituencies that they are on foreign jaunts to create jobs within their own country.
We must understand this aspect and be balanced as long as they dont upset our applecart.
