The present American President seems an exact replica of the Indian politician : All Talk, No Action.

Only the politicians and the media seem excited.

Good start by lifting sanctions and UNSC seat!
by Grizzly on Nov 10, 2010 04:47 PM

Obama has done a good job by starting on a good note. Although we would have wanted more from him, this is not a bad start.

The irritants in our relationship like US weapons and cash aid to porkis need to be eliminated for a further deepening in our ties.

OBAMA & TAGORE
by Kabeer on Nov 10, 2010 04:43 PM

I have been watching all private English News TV Channels of India which are presumably for the urban class and are anchored and having in their panels some of the so called highly educated Indians.

Not one of them have pointed out that President Obama has mentioned Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in his speech. These blokes cant recognise unless the name is mentioned.

That is how subtle the American speech writers and President obama are; when the president said :Where the mind is without fear and head is held high- he was referring to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's poem in Nobel award winning magnum opus Gitanjali

Ambedkar

President Obama needs to read more on Dr. Ambedkar. It would be worthwhile if he reads his book "What Congress and Gandhi done to untouchables".

obama's praise is for ideal india, not the actual
by viswanatha seshadri on Nov 10, 2010 12:40 AM

obama's praise on india as a dynamic democracy in all its aspects was more on the ideals associated with our constitution, but not the actuals; the actuals really happening in india today really fall very much short of the ideals, in many sectors. it will be good if obama's speech inspires our selfish politicians, corrupt burocrats/judiciary, criminalist professionals and paid-piper media and purchasable votebank-citizens, all of them, to correct themselves and improve their performance in the interest of the success of the largest democracy of the world.

Fake Promises
by Vallabh Kollegal on Nov 09, 2010 09:20 PM

I see a bigger picture in Obama's visit to India:
- first of all - he is coming to India when his power in US Senate is weakening - Hence all the promises made to India will not be implemented over the next 2 years post which he will not be in power and hence India will be empty handed, Of course he will ensure he will create those 50000 jobs he is been babbling out in the next few months yeah
- Even if India gets a berth at the UNSC - India will have to accept the policy of Equivalent exchange and the everything has a price theory and accept the UNSC Directive of 1950 - Which clearly means giving up K'mir and either autonomy or Pak will get the remaining 2/3 in a means of appeasing them by the US/UNSC.
Hence, I call this trip of the POTUS to our country as the bearer of ill news and problems to our country which is already has its handsful with Congie Corruption/Pseudo Secular high profile citizens/ Commies eating us from within like a leech and of course the MnCs (and these are not Multi National Companies that i am talking about here - the smart will understand) of the country will always be there to create one trouble or the other yeah.

Permanent UNSC seat
by Govind Lal on Nov 09, 2010 08:00 PM  | Hide replies

What is the logic in providing a ‘disabled’ in the UNSC? India is being crippled by signing the Ndeal and proceeding with Nprojects. The INDIAN politicians should note that bartering UNSC seat with any agreement that may deform the world map do amount to treason. The Congress and BJP will be answerable to the coming generations. It is a known fact that Supreme Court was forced to pass a verdict on the CONFIDENTIALITY OF NUCLEAR PROJECTS in 2004. It was during the BJP rule. The present Ndeal does take its path through this CONFIDENTIALITY ROAD ordered by the apex court. India is being forced to sign the NPT?CTBT. India’s policy is very clear about NPT/CTBT. ‘Any one can make it or none can make it.’

Is it not true that BJP argued for the confidentiality of all subjects related to Nuclear energy? They may argue differently. Remember, the discussions on Ndeal started when BJP was in power (2000). In that case they cannot absolve from their responsibility. They should have thought of the dangers behind the arguments on CONFIDENTIALITY. Note that they argued before the Apex Court for the CONFIDENTIALITY. Orders from the Apex Court are like an act till it is changed by another act of Parliament. The full facts of this treaty is kept SECRET with the shield of this Apex Court order. Can the BJP come out in public that they are not responsible to this Supreme Court order? It was due to their discrete arguments in the court. Wait and see, the full story will come out soon. It was arranged by those men who projected the slogan ‘INDIA SHINNING’.

Dear bjpie
Don’t make me a congress man. Don’t bring in the subjects like corruption etc
Do you know the existence of a philosophical plane as per the great Advaitic Truth about a Changeless Reality behind the ever changing phenomenal world of perceptions, feelings and understandings. That ‘changeless plane’ is created by an unknown entity as far as the Ndeal is concerned. ALL, (UPA, NDA & LEFT) leaders in India just play their role in the stage that is made for it. This can be seen in all that happened and is happening now. Your statement that ‘discussions started even before..’ is true. But played behind the screen by the ‘UNKNOWN ENTITY’. It started immediately after the Pokran 1. (1974). It got exposed after the martyrdom of Mrs Gandhi. Then everything moved with clock-work precision to end in the signing of declaration 2005 and 123 agreement. The present govt could have listened to the voices from intelligentsia and take a deviation. But they are obsessed with the NUCLEAR ENERGY. But, even then, BJP could have played a leading role in Parliament to stop further progress. But, unfortunately, they cooperated FULLY with UPA to pass all bills connected with the Nprojects. Is it not true that BJP played their role as desired by the UNKNOWN ENTITY in all scenes created by the unknown?

Globalization
by Govind Lal on Nov 09, 2010 07:58 PM

Bartering HIGH TECH EXPORTS with nuclear deal is unacceptable. Movement for green energy is welcomed. Provide the world with green energy technology. Let that be the target.
Protectionism is a state’s policy. No nation should encroach on it- in both ways. Globalization is always injurious to weaker nations.

International Economic System
by Govind Lal on Nov 09, 2010 07:43 PM  | Hide replies

The definition of ‘INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC SYSTEM is to be explained. It is impossible to have a true international system. We must aim to have ONE system which can accommodate many systems of varying visions. It is a truth that system depends on the culture one society has. There are many cultures in the world and any effort to find one system to mange all of them will be a failure. ‘Each nation should strive to produce their essentials from within, tension develops when the nation produce for export which is not an essential for other nations.’
What is understood from the word GLOBAL POWER? Is it to conquer and colonize other nations? Remember every sovereign nation is a global power. It is not right to depict one nation as a global power. The attitude should be LIVE AND LET LIVE.

The terms POWER, etc are all used to deviate the nations from real growth. For planning, a nation should look inward. Is India self reliant? Our strength depends on how far we can live without any contribution from abroad. Know that China became a power when they lived separated from the world for a decade and worked hard to progress and self discipline. ( Cultural Revolution ). Are, we Indians, self disciplined? Our politicians are brainwashed to the brim to think that we cannot live without help from abroad. The problem with USA is the UNDUE dependence on other countries. Can they live without import of food (essential) from abroad? Their exports are just defense equipments and high tech appliances which are not essential for other nations. So they create an atmosphere to make other nations (brain-washed) believe that these nonessential items are needed.

Nuclear Deal
by Govind Lal on Nov 09, 2010 07:37 PM  | Hide replies

His admiration of nuclear deal is the path to proliferation of nuclear weapons. Read the news “Nuclear smuggling: Armenia arrests suspected supplier”. World is spending billions if not trillions for N_projects and its protections. How many security agencies & organizations are functioning to stop proliferation? By spending a few millions by unscrupulous men, enriched Uranium could be purchased from the smugglers. Very soon it will be proved that the huge investments made to stop proliferation will be a waste. How many agreements are signed -bilateral and multilateral? But what use? Enriched Uranium reaches the ultras. The visionary world leaders should think of ways to stop this proliferation and deviate from the present mode for the good of the world. By spreading the nuclear projects in several nations the probable weak points are increasing though which enriched Uranium may find its route to the terrorists. All these regulatory bodies will be just ‘PAWNS in front of a few millions which these ultras can pay. We know the story of Davood who arranged several equipments used in N_research for the Khan’s laboratory. As more and more Nprojects are built more and more smugglers will become millionaires.

Nuclear deal is a beginning of proliferation. The disposal of nuclear waste is a formidable job for which there is no proven technology. Is there any project that is completed within the scheduled period of completion at the projected cost? Then why should India be tossed to go with Nprojects? It is nothing but a clear effort to cripple the Indian economy.
