Certainly both parties are confused !
by Tom Dick on Nov 06, 2010 09:08 AM

Confused is the least we can say about relationship between India & USA. India has bitter experience from US as far as technology transfer and support for a UNSC position. Sanctions have played havoc with our military hardware in the past. I understand helicopters were grounded as delivery of spares were stopped due to sanctions. ISRO is on the black list. On the one hand we talk about scientific co operation and on the other hand we get drubbed by sanctions. US certainly not happy with India's stand at UN meetings on many issues. At least 70% US moves in UN has been opposed by India. India, as a policy, supported Palestinian position in UN while US was always with Israel. India co operate with Iran and US don't like it.

SUDHIR PARASHER
The U.S is Frustated With Indian Bureaucracy
by SUDHIR PARASHER on Nov 06, 2010 05:59 AM

He is hinting at Indian Communists. Mr Karat and co. Basically India is inhabited by the people who came here from outside (Moghul Period,British). They settled down and converted people. They found the Indian subcontinent as good place for Trade and other things. They also converted the Local people into their religion and ideology.
These people are still residing here who takes the max benefit of the Place but are faithful to their original land(Central asia,Arabia,Iran,China etc).Hence they can not be faith ful to Indian place.
In fact they do not under stand the word National Interest. They oppose any thing ,which is good for India.

Mr. Krepon's analysis is the most candid and insightful one I've seen from the American side. He shows a remarkable grasp of the ground realities and lays them down as such.

India really needs to figure out her relationship with respect to the US particularly in light of the rise of China. I think there is too much focus on Pakistan which that country does not deserve from India. I read elsewhere that the US-India business relationship is fast approaching a symmetric configuration. Maybe South Block could take a few lessons from India's business leaders! When you a country of increasing strength, behave like one!!!

Co-operate
by Kishore Doodnath on Nov 05, 2010 02:34 PM

There is no reason whay india should not co-operate with the US. But hsi should not be extended to become dependancy or being co-opted to serve the interests of the united states. Make sure that while we import their technologies that we continue tot develope our own competence in everything from aviation, military, space, electronic etc. India must have to confidence to chart its own future and beleive that we cna lead - not always be led.

Very practical opinion.

India need not stop US aid to Pak. But, the interests of India should be ensured by US. That is that US should ensure that Pak does not use the Military aid and US weapons against India. US should also tell Pak in clear terms that terror as a State strategy is just not acceptable. The percption in India about US will then see a sea change.

On its side, India should also ensure its own internal and external strengths so that it becomes totally independent.
