Is this a straw in the wind that Mamta's long-cherished dreams will in similar fashion be derailed in the upcoming Calcutta municipal election?

Derailments, What have been done all along?
by Ramasamy Nagarajan on May 25, 2010 09:38 AM  | Hide replies

The corrupt Railway Ministers( save a very few like Madhavarao Scindhia and Nitish Kumar in the recent Past) and inept bureacrats have contributed a very little to avoid this type of accidents. The reasons for Kadlundi and Ashtamudi in Kerala, Bagmathi in Patna, and a lot more have not been found. How can they avoid such accidents. Suggestions given by juniors to preventderailments have been overlooked and mocked at, though renowned Institutions like BITS Pilani agreed for research leading to PhD, on plea that the fiindings of the research would lead to Court Cases in case of accidents. Such ideas/findings are now being considered by western countries. Minister will visit, a few heads will roll down, a few pressmeets, then conveniently fogotten. Thete are more than 1000 spots pron to major derailmentsin India! God save the Passengers.

Thee drivers and to some extent the Station Masters and a few more are running the trains. The brakes are meant for their application in case of any emergency and the driver has to do the job since he is the best judge. In the dynamic conditions that too in the speed of Rajdhani Expresses, accidents willoccur in certain stretches, say curves, gradients. It should be the inbuilt defect in the track as well.

Mr. Ramaswamy your points are valid. But no Railways in the world are 100% accident free. Incidents can be avoided not accidents that is why they are called accidents. Some thing not considered before hand.

Nay, accidents are sill continuing and investigations are done as though an elephant is felt by 5 visually impaired. Excepting the concrete evidences like sabotage, breakage of rails or wheels, drunken driving, bad station management, clear reasons identified with the dynamic conditions have not yet been found,

I agree. Yet the poor junior Promotee officer would be sacked leaving the royal blooded Group I direct officers as the bosses. Even if any of them taken up, after a day or two they would be admonished to safeguard their career interests. A lot of heart burning there inRailways.

Downfall started
by RaviShankar De on May 25, 2010 09:30 AM  | Hide replies

These narrow minded politicians and their narrow and communal minded parties (MNS, Trinomul Congress, DMK/ADMK, AGP, RJD,BSP, AkaliDal, Telugu Desam etc.) will destroy India soon. It is very sad that we don't have any broad outlook political party, which will come out from these narrow minded thinking of religions, languages, community, caste, race etc. and think about progress, development and welfare of the country and its people.

From yesterdays Press Conference, it is doubly clear why Sonia Gandhi could not trust any better stooge than Manmohan Singh as PM.Whatever good human being/economist/honest man he may be, he should not have accepted this political post of Stooge to keep his standing clear. The conference basically exposed all his weaknesses of various sorts as politician/orator/paliamentarian/tactician etc.

Air Travel... disaster or avert disaster....By Road.... accidents on highways, which is expected to rise due to relief in speed limits..... Train.... every now and then derailment, either sabotage or negligence... Why so much in india? are we all CALLAS? All faster modes have no problem in next door China... Can anyone analyse the reason? We always envy China from our heart and live with extreme inferiority complex...
In fact, Why travel at all? We have so many modes of communications.. even 3G... SO...stay back home surrounded by all Gadgets....

rashtriya swayam sevak sangh is present at the accidenet spot in full swing, participating in rescue and relief operations. they are providing basic medical help, providing bed sheets, drinking water and some food to not only injured but also to the stranded passengers. if only this rascal rediff focuses on them and spreads the message, we will have done justice to the right people, also will wake up the conscience of people to go and help instead of just writing crap on this post!
