When 50 was the retiring age!
by Ramesh Kapoor on May 18, 2010 09:24 PM

There was a time, when age of 50 was considered as an option to retirement and compulsory retirement at age 55. Times have changed and now the same has been increased to 62 and above. In the USA this has been increased to 67, while there is no age limit to the justices of the supreme court. In India, I understand 62 is the upper limit; so going with these analysis a person at 50 should be at the prime of his career - though this rule does not apply to the politicians. I wish it did; and this would be better to infuse new ideas and new technology into the well being of the nation.

Age & good life.
by Madikeri Abu on May 18, 2010 08:52 PM  | Hide replies

Whether u r in 40s or 50s or 60s, u will be happiest if your pleasures are cheapest. Yeah I do agree with the above findings because as we grow older we tend to ignore life's rat race, monetary yearnings, professional rivalry.. etc and tend to be more spiritual. As a result they will find more inner peace and consequently feel better and happier.

Follow Shri Baba Ramdev. Increase your life expectancy to 150-200 years. And live happily ever after (50).

"Increase life expectancy" would have been okay. 150-200 years is a very childish statement :-)

Tell that to Baba Ramdevji who feels that in a pollution free world life span can be increased to about 400 years by following the Yogic way of life.

by lax yopr on May 18, 2010 07:51 PM  | Hide replies

although i pretty far off from age 50, i truly believe what they say.
at a younger age, ppl have ambitions & desires & jealousy, which all leads to unhappiness.
as you age, you make peace with yourself & accept your shortcomings/failures, which leads to happiness.
