With good news there is bad news.
by Sameer K on May 17, 2010 11:27 PM  | Hide replies

This is not good news, but there is a cyclone forming in bay of bengal right now it has been upgraded from a low pressure to a depression and in next 12 to 24 hours it will become a cyclone.

Last year a similar structure formed and cyclone Aila took all the moisture of the monsoon and slammed West Bengal and Bangladesh and we had a delayed monsoon.

However this time the track, the path of this system is not yet predictable, with current models it might slam Tamil Nadu, Andhra or Orissa and if it changes direction it might go to WB/Bangladesh region, which is marginal.

Another area of depression is forming in Arabian Sea near Somalia which might too become a cyclone and since those cloud storm take path towards India most probably Gujarat, cant say exactly where it will go right now.

Dont know whether monsoon will strike or a destructive cyclone.

mr. marathe with the govt of maharashtra are trying to plan artificial seeding so that rain cloud do not get passed over and rains can occur over catchment areas...good to see that we are going ahead in right direction...if this year its successful this formula should be carried out all over india so that no one should face water scarcity in india

Mallus are happy
by Jems Odda on May 17, 2010 10:42 PM

In Budhist Religion it is fame that early sun rays and early rains, make people olf region rich in education, that is why entire flagship of IAS. IFS and other top services belongs to either Kerala or Bengal. You can see the record of percentage, also dominate these two state boys nice, but the national sample survey also said the consumption of liquor also at top of the country in Kerala. I am not diching to my mallu friends, nice my sales will increase. Rains touching to Kerala I very happy, because it takes 6 days to reach Goa, where I am waiting. Even PC is originally from Palghat, he is also waiting for PM. Ofcourse he had made a platform in opposition even BJP to support for his PM during next General Election, but miserable failed in handling the sitution of naxal. I have suggested him to start Power Plant is naxal affected region, and he called to busines community, but no respons. Therefore give money to naxal for power plant, there will be no theft of finished product, coal and water available at local, let us see before becoming PM wheter he will be able to solve the naxal problem or not

God, we need good rains this year, please
by Govind Ramaswamy on May 17, 2010 10:31 PM

This is abnormal. Kerala will get SW monsoon and nothing to do with cyclone in Bay of Bengal.

Anyway, we await good monsoon to start in time.

I pray the god to bless us with abundant rains this year and good crop across the country.

by aus ant on May 17, 2010 10:29 PM  | Hide replies

The PMO is teeming with mallus and they have grabbed the monsoon to keral first.
Its time we northies grab it back to our heartland first like it was before.

This is not the sign of early monsoon.
by aman on May 17, 2010 10:26 PM

This is not the sign of monsoon..
I think this is some kind of local formation in the bay of Bengal.. and nothing to do with south western monsoon. this year SW monsoon would not be normal.. as the north eastern monsoon pattern is not normal except in TN where we can see still some NE monsoon activity, So this year... theres every chance of failure of SW monsoon.
