First of in 1975 the chief of army was ""Gopal Gurunath Bewoor"" and for your kind information "" Sam Manekshaw "" left office by 1973...So you better dont write your rubbish columns here.. or may be you are too old enough ( after 60 years men gets mad like you )..

History is ugly, and looking back at it make it still more ugly
by srijithesh rajendran on May 13, 2010 12:02 AM

History is ugly, and looking back at it make it more ugly.
Every nation has it feet in clay.
Just as US has its feet in the present day Af-Pak problem and ergo in its own nemesis global Islamic terrorism, India has its feet deeply immersed in the dirt of what has happened before the onset of Bangla-war.
If those records are made public it is going to deeply embarrass its stance on state sponsored terrorism. That's the plain reason why those documents are not to see the light of the sun. It surely is enough to complicate the already complicates geopolitics of Indo-pak and Sino-Indian parleys. The author is too stupid to raise such a question. Does he wishes a solution for the future, or is only interested in the ephemeral limelights of the possible scoops?

Hmmm
by kafir chronicles on May 12, 2010 11:47 PM  | Hide replies

Names of those involved would be out in public. You wouldn't want to know that people of various ranks in the IB, ranging from CLERK to DIG went into Bangladesh, formerly known as EAST PAKISTAN on intel gathering missions now, would you? There is a line which cannot be crossed. If you are so curious, go join them, else shut the F up and keep swilling your whiskey and bask in your so called journalistic achievements of having a "scoop" off Big SAM's own mouth.

Destruction of records.
by vijay srinivas on May 12, 2010 11:43 PM

Wats so big deal if the war records are destryed as per laid down guidelines of Army. Govt destroys its record after stipulated time. By breaking this news some body in the media circle is trying to leave a cat among the pigeons. No questions are asked on victory, you just celebrate, we have enough records to teach us our lessons. I am sure similar records on our losses of 1962 are destryoed.

Its high time we wake up to ground realities, concentrate on corruption, no body is asking for records of swiss accounts of our politicians! They will come out from dark cuppoboards during election like Ram mandir. Even Ram must be cursing us for waking him up so many times.

By doing this we are only demeaning our war heroes like FM Manekshaw and Gen Jacob. They did excellent job and thats what matters.

Go home sleep!!

rediff.. so sad tat you are short of news
by Alvin on May 12, 2010 11:42 PM

I feel pity that rediff is short of real news that affect common men. Please dont ask me what are they. If you are unable to find any article and expect readers to write comments on silly things like this, Tell you frankly you are rating yourselves as low.

Indian Navy sank INS Ghazi. It was indeed heroic......... but they destryoed all related reports, bcoz they don't want to prove this triumph. What a dilemma......:)

Its PNS and not INS. it was not Indian Navy it sunk under mysterious conditions. Read Indian Naval chiefs account who said that the flag of bravery should have been raised for the crew of PNS Ghazi. Yes, when it sunk and the fishermen brought the life jackets, Indian eastern command took the credit.

Independent Bangladesh
by Gautam Biswas on May 12, 2010 11:20 PM  | Hide replies

The independece of Bangladesh was earned due to Bengalis of West Bengal, Tripura & Bangladesh. Indian Army played a role but in the later stage when the battle was in favoour of Bengalis. Can you justify the genocide of 3 million Bengalis (Hindus & Muslims), if Indian Govt. had played a major role to liberate Bangladesh from Pakistan, then it woluldn't happened. To avoid this truth Indian Army & Navy had destroyed all the 1971 war related documents. The Indian Govt. doesn't have courage to tell the truth to it's people.

If you are an Indian then try to understand an Indian like me. We all Indains are rats like you. So just accept the truth and stop our politicians to do all these wrong doings for the sake of power. Stop Mayawati, Lalu, Mullayam,Sonia to fabricate truths.

Singhji Balle Balle........ you people are really heroes of our country. But let people know your heroics.

The criminal under hand deals that nehru and those from his dynasty should have had with the opponents should not be leaked. People should be kept in the dark so that they can be fooled with the notion of sacrifice that was never made!

by shivram adithya on May 12, 2010 11:11 PM

The information is still has relevance. Pakistan would use this to justify and legitimise their support to Kashmiri militants.

By the way, Is Pakistan ready to expose all their wrong doings of Pakistani army men including massacre of millions of East Pakistanis?
