No Real Value
by DilipVishnu maydeo on May 12, 2010 10:46 AM

Information and news are two side of the same coin. This is only news and has no consequntial value in terms of results. What you and I do for time pass is important after we have taken into account what is our core activity. We have become insensitive and lost our pride for those who have money. Will you invite anyone to show off your your weakness unless he /she is your mentor? Americans are not going to save us anyway. Its a desire of a few but will remain as such. They will exploit land in Dharavi as it is sitting turkey in central mumbai where real estate can boom if it is purchased at throwaway price. We are thinking we are showing them the stark realities in this country. But what is the need? Business is Business ,no one lets you go when it comes to money. They will give us loan and there will be kickbacks for politicians who will in turn show the great development excercise they carried on with their american counterparts. What about the rte of interests and other subtle agendas they will have.Suppose you are poor do you take a loan from your neighbour? You work hard till you surmount adversities based on your strength. Why assume you are weak and slaves of the rich just because they are having capital. The americans know that we are a heterogenous society without inbuilt crossroads they are picking every opportunity to make a fast buck by inflagrating the desire to get 'Developed' this is going to be a bad dream.

How can showing off slums to Americans win votes for the Congress?? The story of Bombay is thus 100 slums for each building. There is no pride in showing off that we are a poor nation. But it is imperative for the Americans to know that the disparity between the first world and the third world would eventually lead to global crisis. The countries that produce food have not enough to eat themselves which is really sad.

They know all about it. Most apartments in Marine drive are occupied by expatriates. Most companies in Bangalore are owned by them or are atleast running on their money. Showing them the slums and the latent talent even in the poor of India gives these American baniyas idea that they can invest 25% of what they would do in the US and still get the desired results. Which in turn means investment into India. So more IT hubs can be formed and more global cities developed.

huge height difference
by Kunal on May 12, 2010 08:19 AM  | Hide replies

American basketball players are all around 7 feet or plus we indians are mere 5 feet or 6 at max. it will be impossible for us to ever be close to american level in basket-ball. the morons in the indian cricket team should all be sacked and made ball boys for all the domestic YMCA basket ball matches. that too without being paid as they have already eaten more money than they can chew.

The Americans are naturally tall people with the flair for playing the sport. Basketball is their favorite sport and a mega business in their nation. Players there earn big bucks and this allied with their natural skills attracts them to the sport over there.

They are not naturally tall. It is all because of good food. You are what you eat.

Its not the height but the mindset that has always kept us back and will always keep us back in sports. How many of you have kids and will let them be a sports personality or encourage them for that matter.

Great. Outsiders had already conquered the Posh colonies. Nice news to hear that they have conquered the slums as well.

All the more reason why Bombay should be a Union territory.
