Running away is not an answer
by Grizzly on Mar 05, 2010 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

Indians cannot and should not run away from anywhere especially from a rich country like Australia. Many rich Indians have enjoyed the fruits of Australian dream and live happily there.

If anything needs to be changed, its the racist elements in Australia, not the Indians living in Australia! We support our fellow Indians living anywhere in the world including Australia.

Indians should go to Australia and get the benefits of a rich country. Do you know that Australian economy has grown the fastest in the global financial crisis amongst all the developed countries outpacing, US, EU, Canada, NZ and others? Do you know that Australia is home to some of the largest international companies in the world? Do you know that Australia will be a reliable supplier of iron ore, coal, LPG gas and many other minerals to china and India for many decades to come? Do you know that while US is struggling to introduce a health safety net for its citizens, Australia already has a vast and successful healthcare program for all its citizens and residents? There are many more things that can be written here...

Australia is a country of opportunity and the old destinations of UK, Germany etc are going to only slowly grow in the coming time while Australia will leap forward in big leaps. Thats official data, not just a wild statement.

Running from Australia is not an answer. We need to change their mindset and history has shown it, if we want it, we can do it!

dont go there. avoid the destination if they need to adjust to indians coming there. label them like they label as a slum infested third world. label them exactly what they dread until they set things right there.

australis is detined to become another asian country proably in the next 2 decades sicne Australia or better said MaoriLand belongs to Native Maoris first then to Asians (due to proximity) and then to anybody else .

Whites will need to adjust , lower their hold else they may have to run back to england or US.

orient overseas bound indians
by om baheti on Mar 03, 2010 06:52 PM  | Hide replies

Instead of cursing lack of civic sense, cultural shock etc. what govet. should ensure is that overseas bound indians receive proper orientation to be provided by private/public agency to all studnets, in particular about what are do's and dont's practiced in any country. They also should know to respect local laws, traditions, people. These are all things of common sense but since we Indians do not respect such things in our own country and still get away with it we want it same way in other country as well. Only way to mitigate such instances is change yourself rather than trying to change others.

plenty of people who have gone there are from B town, and are behaving normally. you want to sound like all indians going there are uncivilized. thats a load of bull. the asstralians are lazy and dont like their jobs being taken away by hard working people of third world country. sure, they are crassy and lack class, but they dont deserve to be beaten to be civil.

you spout wisdom out of your crack, if you say indians lack civility and hence they are justified in beating indians up.

Rana Pratap
Melbourne and Indian students
by Rana Pratap on Mar 03, 2010 06:33 PM  | Hide replies

I spent six months in Melbourne in 2007. My main observation in this regard was that the large number of Indian kids “studying” there are mostly from Tier 2 cities in India with little experience in conducting themselves in public – loud conversations on the train, iPods disturbing other passengers, groups congregating at street corners… when you are a visible minority, there needs to be an effort to interact better with the local population. The lack of any meaningful interaction with Aussies, and the fact that these Indian students stay in relatively low-rent, poorer areas makes them vulnerable to cultural misunderstandings and open assaults from lower-class Aussies as we have seen over the last few years… Australia is still a society in transition, coming to grips with the fact that it is no longer an exclusively European society, so there are still remnants of the old racist attitudes…So there needs to be a dispassionate evaluation of the situation. Comparisons with Pretoria and Birmingham are a load of crap… there is no institutionalized racism in Aus, just a situation with cultural/social/immigration-related aspects that needs to be addressed.

looks like you too have to get used to the levels of violence seen consistently for an extended period of time. its become exactly what you dont want to see, hear or opine about.

India mother of all racist societies
by Vivek Dev on Mar 03, 2010 05:55 PM  | Hide replies

India is mother of all racist societies. India invented, patented and operated and particular virulent strain of racism which thrives to this day and is integral to Indian society. Indians could teach Australians a thing or two about racism as Indians discriminate on the basis of everything caste, subcaste, subsubcaste, colour, sex, religion, even dietary preferences. It is important for Australia not to allow the racist Indians bully them over some minor incidents. India should be made to answer for much, much more.

Any prejudicial thought about a fellow human based on the caste he is born, the country he was born or the religion he was born to or chose or his/her food habits is "RACISIM". We are the original NAZI's. Let's deal with it first. Australia is a tiny bubble in this ocean of racisim. The moral "as U sow so shall U reap"

Shive Sena & MNS is first group who has identified the LTTEs & Terror Malbaris for their protectionism.

Now Australia & Gulf countries has identified them correctly.
India should call back all LTTEs & Terror Malbaris to their respective state, otherwise india has to pay heavy losses across the world.

Bangalore IT companies are Save Heaven for LTTEs & Terror Malbaris.

Australia,US worries Banglore IT protectionism : As these companies working with LTTEs & Terror Malbaris.

LTTEs & Terror Malbaris have created horror in the whole world, look into the Australian issues, look into Malaysians issues, look into Gulf issues, now look into US issues all you find the traces of LTTEs & Terror Malbaris.

LTTEs & Terror Malbaris has thought protectionism to whole world as they are Non Co-operative in nature the whole world. They understand only Tamil & Malyali they can't adjust in the whole world except in Tamil Nadu & Kerala.

Lack of Cultural Training
by sfk friend on Mar 03, 2010 04:45 PM  | Hide replies

Indian youth from bit cities generally lack civic sense. They do not know how to behave in public space and how to maintain the decorum in a foreign city. They behave in a indiscipline manner as they are used to back in Delhi. Net result, our youths are trashed in Australia.

Your opinion is partially true. But not entirely. The fact is that there are some ill-behaved Indians and some ill-behaved Aussies. The ill-behaved Aussies have the advantage because it is their home turf. But these Aussies are kids. You see almost all of them are below 18. Indian guys on the other hand don't seem to grow up.
