Utilisation of resources
by Fad Dunga on Jun 28, 2010 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

Its best intrest of nation if organisation like DRDO, NAL, HAL, ISRO, BARC is shut down as we dont get anything out of those buggers instead the so called "scientist" should be asked to research to find out how we can build roads to last few years...... that is the need of the hour as we spend lakhs of crores in laying roads and filing in the pot holes every year.

Anyway whatever these people do we end up buying stuff from outside only so what is the point in having these organisation at the cost of tax payers money

There are scientists who have built world class roads in India, but we have an organisation called CPWD, which wants roads ot last for one year.
If you think all the scientists are fake, then you become a scientist bring a nobel prize. Otherwise you don't have any right to criticise others.

I doing good at what I am but no one will say so for these so called scientist who are more bothered about selling a dead d0nckey so that their salaries are secured.

Why dont you list down few of their acheivements in last 60 yrs of their existence????

Getting a Noble prize required expemplary work, I dont think laying a good road requires those skills, but if Indian "scientist" can acheive that, I am sure they might get some similar international prize after all that will be an astounding achievement for them.

First of all, I believe you are not qualified enough to understand the achievements of Indian scientists, but considering that you are a layman in this subject, let me remind you the names of some of the great Indian scientists, like CV Raman, JC Bose, Narlikar, Bhabha and many others. And there are thousands of others who are known to the rest of the world for their contribution, but we Indians do not bother to know about them.
Coming back to the discussion, scientists alone cannot change anything, they can only offer new and superior technology to the industry, now it is upto the industry to adopt it. Its like " you can bring the horse to the fountain, but you cannot force it to drink water". Indian industries are reluctant to change, they want to follow time tested method, even if they are outdated in the rest of the world. For that they are ready to pay any amount of royalty. and if the industry is Indian armed forces, you know the reason why they want to do it.
Finally, by saying that our scientists are fool, you are not doing any favour to the country. Considering what you are saying is correct, please suggest something so that our future scientists will be better.

kickbacks

The DRDO is waiting for kickbacks to decide upon a future course.
Vested interests are of prime importance in an institutionalized democracy with no national vision.

DRDO's attempts to resurrect Kaveri
by sudhanshu panda on Jun 28, 2010 09:34 AM  | Hide replies

It is high time Govt.wakes up to the cost and time over run of such defence Projects taken up by DRDO.The performance of DRDO is shoddy to say the least.Leave alone the new product developement they can not even "reverse engineer" in time. The Arjun tank project lasted over 35 years, the Agni missile project testing goes on and on.The LCA and LCH projects are also on the same lingering mode.Every time Govt. of India goes for a major defence procurement DRDO announces some futuristic projects about which it hardly has any expertise just to scuttle the procurement. As a result the cost of procurement also goes up.Mere announcements will not do.As taxpayers, we demand accountability from DRDO.Enough of such Indegenous drama. If DRDO can not deliver,Govt.should explore other pvt. majors.Other big countries have involved pvt.majors .Why not in India? We should look at the loss to the exchequer by such delays by DRDO.By Merely saying "Indegenous technology, patriotism, profit motive by pvt. sector "etc is simply putting the actual problem under the public scrutiny.

The funding for R&D in defense by our Govt is just a peanut as compared to from those countries from we procure much of our arms and ammunition. EVEN with less funding compared to them DRDO is at par in technology development. No wonder our armed force top brass is more interested in doing arms dealing with foreign national arms companies...... than buying and accepting ingenious technologies ...

Maybe.
But please for God's sake, make something half decent, DRDO! Then we can talk about funding.
Its time we admit that DRDO, HAL etc are failures. Even ISRO has not been up to the mark.
The so-called best minds of our country are satisfied doing clerical jobs at private IT companies. As a rule the govt companies get people who can not find job anywhere else.

Not exactly..... if you talk of Science and Technology spare IT.... Even today the Govt. is only biggest job creator in India in the area of science and technology..... If you ake IT ... the contribution of priate Cos on R&D is minimal.... S&T jobs in Govt. of India is the toughest one when compared to get any private job S&T job.... YOU CAN CHECK AROUND.. the problem lies is with the people who govern our S&T R&D... our S&T and R&D were Governed with authority.... by non scientific personal...... pot bellied bureaucrats .... You can not blame an organization for that.... The output of DRDO is 10 times better then any other Indian national research institute like CSIR, ICMR, ICAR, IISC, DT, DST etc
