The political class has shredded the ethos and faith of a common man. Bhopal like accidents are happening everyday, just the place and mode changes. The common always faces the wrath. Corruption and nepotism are the order of the day. Nothing would happen to UCC or Dow nor corrupt babus and ministers would change. We are sitting in a volcano.

The many faces of Bhopal Tragedy
by ravi prakash on Jun 19, 2010 11:44 AM

Twenty six years ago, the residents of Bhopal mostly poor, living around the Union Carbide Plant were gassed. The gas killed many thousands and maimed many more. India woke up to this incident in a state of shock that refuses to subside even after twenty six years.
Like every thing in India, a tragedy of this size leaves everyone, paricularly the local Goverment, State Government and the Central Govt completely immobilized. Result: Nothing happens and every one goes his own way ( including Mr Warren Anderson!).
Twenty six years later, the courts declare the local personnel of Union Carbide guilty of gross negligence and awards them punishment as laid by the law of the land.
The real tragedy is that everyone is responsible and hence noone is responsible for anything.
What happened to the compensation amount of USD 400M paid by the UCC to the Govt of India. Is it taken up by the various accounts audit committes- Of course, the amount would have been paid as per some registers containing the names of those affected.
How about bringing back the Swiss Bank millions to provide life long health care for the victims.
Who owes it to bring succour to the Bhopal Gas victims without profit motive?

The biggest deception is from the political masters of our country. And that means all political parties including Congress, BJP etc.

There is extreme corruption, criminilization and barbarism within the politicians, police, judiciary and govt machinery. But Indians divided along caste lines cannot do anything agianst it and will continue to suffer till the caste system is eliminated and made irrevelant. Then we can hope to take the next step of forming a civilized society and tackling the crooks within our midst.

The idea of having members like mr. Azhagiri, minister who have not spoken a word in the parliament and GoM head by Mr. Chidhabaram, who is nothing but bag of empty words and promises ( way he handling Naxal problem) shows this Govt. is just making a show that they are concern about people of Bhopal. In fact, GoM of constituted to divert the media frm Warren Anderson, UC and DOW Chemicals.

Thy name is villainy
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jun 18, 2010 09:43 PM

In every national man-made disaster in this stinking, misbegotten land, The Venal Congress Party has always been the villain- from succumbing to partition, the Kashmir fiasco, to its craven kow-towing to Mao and the shameless selling out of Tibet, to the humiliation of the '62 border "War"- just to name a few, not to mention their most perverse act of villainy- the institutionalization of corruption and criminalization of the polity.
The results of successive criminal Cong govts is evident everywhere, n your face- it's all pervasive.
And yet the idiot masses keep voting for these useless, self-serving, corrupt cretins. Who's to blame, you ask?

Industrial Accident waiting to happen - Chalta hai.
by anjan chatterjee on Jun 18, 2010 12:23 PM

It is surprising to me that WHY all of a sudden every News agency, TV Channel, Politician, are waking up on the UC Bhopal accident. All of the facts were esisting 25 years ago also. Mr.Anderson flew out 25 yrs ago. What we should be dioscussing is Actions to be taken for the Help of the suffers of the accident. TV Chanels should highlight Bhopal's, need, so that people can contribute their help, for the vicitms.
The India people of Bhopal will not gain by hanging Anderson, as it was an industrial accident of the worst kind. In India 'CHALTA HAI' attitude, for all things is in life, will cause more accidents, even Nuclear radiation, as seen in New Delhi scrap yard,Cobalt Disc 50people have been effected, no one cares.look around and be aware of the Safety being ignored, If possible do something. Do not ignore it please, as it can affect you & your family.

we are insensetive
by sg sg on Jun 18, 2010 10:03 AM

we as indians dont value life, as it seem we have so much of it and any major trajedy we wail for some time and burn buses and public spaces to show some anger, which according to me is humburg and cheap. then commissions are met but justice is a long way off least 25 years till then the entire episode is pushed under the carpet or simple forgotton. the more our citizens appoint insensative leaders the more they are to balme in the state we are in.

Caption and Content

The article by Khandaswamy Subramanian capti
oned 'Deception by Dow Chemicals and Union Car
bide" says after 2nd Dec 1984,it took quarter century for our courts to convict those respon
sible, that too with a light sentence, followed
by warning of journalist Rajkumar Keswani and
many other things. But lookiong at the contents,
i feel the ball is in the other court that is
our Govt wherein it would have been more apt,
if the title were "Deception By Our Govt On
The Victims Of Disaster".The Govt should always
be strong, unbending and in a commanding positi
on for which it should be run by Bold ,Firm
and Forthright leaders without compromising on any Governing Priciples.Khandaswami Subramanian
was blind when inside the Govt and when i read his article with caption having no connection
with the content,i feel he has only partially opened his eyes.

More than action of innocent fools who vote for congress, the inaction of even bigger intellect fools who choose not to vote at all is the secret of winning of congress.

yeah....thats right....resign from US and come back to....where???India??? why??? so that there is one more family for the govt. of India to kill. we are 2nd class citizens in western countries and we are 2nd class citizens in our own country. at least here, we can make some more money and settle our kids. the only difference between me and you is that i had the opportunity to leave and i took it. be honest, if you had the chance too, you would leave.....so stop acting like you are the best thing to happen to india and you are staying there because u love it.

Justice Buried
by avinash kajare on Jun 18, 2010 01:02 AM

Justice is buried. It is not a political. Any party would have done the same under the pressure of US.
Reegan called Gandhi for escape of Anderson & was arranged by Rao.
India has proof that UCIL was directly operated & operations were controlled by Union carbide. Dow should go to the hell.
Search for pics of Bhopal Tragedy. Unknown child being buried. foetuses abandoned. Children born distorted & with chronic diseases. Justice can not be done for innocent children & unborns.
May the ghosts of Bhopal gas tragedy hunt the criminals & their children & their children forever.
