Re: Mumbai water logging

yeah...please file a case in supreme court to remove all the people whom mentioned above. probably when mumbai have only few hundred people left..it will be a good place.
Mumbaikars have proud in their esteem. no matter what happens to the city, that famous Spirit of mumbai is always there to make the city shine. and here it is again, Mumbai under water, its been a regular every year for decades that mumbai is struggling to keepup with the unorganised Builder-Politician-Mafia Nexus. They have ruined the city. Every damn corner of the city has sky rises. Mumbai is probably the most disgustingly planned city in the world.credit goes to all Local Netas, who are in hand and glove with the builders and Mafias. No Drainage, Place to dump garbage. No parking. God save this city now. its high time mumbaikars comeout and trash all those BMC town planners and Local Politican who have taken them for a ride for this long. Wakeup Mumbaikars Wakeup...

Mr Rane!!Your perception of Mumbai, the greatest city in India is utterly wrong!!!It is not at all a disgusting city but the most lovable city teaching one the much needed basic qualities of life say-like discipline, regularity, work culture, space management, being accommodative towards others. It is the only city where right from a person earning just 100/-pm to a billionaire can survive with dignity. The cosmopolitan look & culture of the city, the stoic nature of people who take things in the stride & do not disturb their routine even in the wake of the worst situations like the bomb blasts & the terrorists shootings are simply unheard any where in the world.Th excellent suburban train & the BEST services which form the life nerves of the city speak volumes about it.These rains are a part of their daily life of monsoon & is an annual feature to which they are accustomed. These can never belittle its charm & greatness. One's life is incomplete without having an inning at this great city.

its just a rhetoric what you have mentioned. Nothing else. More than rhetoric this city needs Futuristic TOwn planners Honest MLA, MLC's who could work for the people instead of filling thier own pockets. and the spirit which you speak about is nothing but helplessness.

R Rane, The spirit media and peudo talks about is nothing but helplessness. Good one.

It is not helplessness, but a hard reality.I do not know whether you lived continuously at any point of time, but I did & studied the city as an ordinary resident of it.What I said about is 100% correct.I do agree tha, with the day to day increasing population of the city actuated by the gush of settlers which is reportedly,1000 families daily on an average, there is a dire need for revamping its drainage system & other allied systems;this does never mean that it is disgusting city.

The city is not disgusting, I also love this city, but it pains me so see what a mess these planners of BMC and local Politician have made it. Nobody is interested in Making this city have a decent city life..all of the local netas are busy in filling their pockets by supporting the damn builders and mafias. they have made a high rise almost every corner of this city. this is digusting, they do it only for money and everybody from BMC, Politicans, Builders, Mafia is involved. they are ruining this city. Mumbai suburbs needs a breathing space badly.
Please preserve single drop of water, so that we don't face water scarcity in the near future.
We should be ready with enough water storage, even if it doesn;t rain for one year. We have seen states fighting amongst themselves like different nations for waters.

Guest , P L E A S E , Please send some drums of huge capacity to store the water all over Mah. State!!!! BRAVO Keep IT UP!!
Re: Please store every single drop of water

but most of the rain water is wasted in the gutters, we should have a new system which can save & store the rain water. Something like rain water harvesting. But this new system should be able to get the stored water to the water treatment plant and after treatment the potable water should be sent to a bigger storage like a - a reservoir. That way we can have plenty of water t0 last for 2-3 years. But at the same time each one of us shud learn to save water
Re: Re: Please store every single drop of water
by JOHN BHATIA on Jun 18, 2010 01:55 AM
Br. water is not being harvest like what you said. It is being stored under ground by constructing storm water basins. In California and few other States, more than one acre size development has to construct water storage basin on the site and design in such a way that at least 50% water can be harvested in ground. By the way, water cannot be stored in the tanks for more than few days. It becomes harmful.

population is not a problem but poverty is the problem. There are cities which are more densely populated in developed country like Japan but no such problems!

Even bangalore is increasing 10 folds every year. All drains are in making, cleaning started before rain. And all just happened in 2 years. Why kongi do not do this? bombay gets more revenue than Bangalore.

Boss, dont you think India should use all its scientist to find out how to build good roads to last more then 6 months rather then unproductive space research and satelite launch?????
Its not that it cant be done, but once done in a proper way that plugs the way to annual loot in form of desilting and pot holes repairs...... yeah hai India meri jaan
Re: Re: India's economic power house
by Jay on Jun 16, 2010 05:36 PM
Jitesh - Last year BMC imported 3 machines to fill the potholes, at approx cost of 63 cr. Machines were never used, why coz the contracters who normally get the contrct to fill this pot holes resisted. Comon this is like chor ulta kotwal ko date.
Re: Re: Re: India's economic power house
by Jitesh Agrawal on Jun 16, 2010 05:41 PM
I wont be surprised if it turns out that the machine wasnt worth 63 lakhs and was a cheap import which wouldnt had worked in any way and the best escape way was putting the blame on non cooperative contractors.
Had BMC had the will can contractors hold them to ransom???? forget that, filling potholes is no rocket science, had BMC not been hand in glove with those contractors mumbai would had 3 tiers of quality roads what it has today

Its true. I had gone from a "dying" city to live in Mumbai a few years back. What I witnessed was an urban infrastructure cracking at its seams unable to bear the load any more. What is most pathetic is that even after so many years there is still no MRTPS system in the city. The position of the other infrastructure is there for all to see.
Re: Re: Mumbai
by Jitesh Agrawal on Jun 16, 2010 04:59 PM
Who says MRTPS is not present, it is present all over India, havent you seen how fast ministers cars travel in convoy whenever they move..... one who is not part of that convoy is the common man, who has to live and die a commoner..... dont crib, its the fate of all Indians
