Congress is systematically destroying India's image.....
by Stud on Jun 10, 2010 10:34 AM

Congress Party , the fountain head of corruption in India is systematically making mockery of India in the world.

The skewed verdict in the Bhopal disaster is one in the long list of shoddy investigation, laced with corruption, lies, deceit & betrayal.

Last after election results the world was shocked along with Indians when Congress was back in power. More especially after the world saw on Live TV what happened on 26/11 and how our government acted in the aftermath.

Congress party remains to be the single largest threat to the UNION OF INDIA.

Sorry reflection on Indian legal system....
by Globalcrusador on Jun 10, 2010 05:19 AM  | Hide replies

This whole episode is a sad reflection on the Indian legal system. How can courts be allowed to take almost 25-30 years to arrive at a judgment, by which time, the assumed perpetra- tor of the crime has outlived his age and died. Fortunately, in this case you still have Anderson living at the ripe age of 90 years. What punishment can you award a person who has already crossed 90 years in age ? Mr. Moily you have a lot more work to do to completely clear off the backlog of cases and make sure, all complicated legal cases, such as this one, are settled within a max of 3 years.

Oh!
Mr. Anderson can still be punished..even if he is 90.
Take a leaf from Mossad's book. They still hunt down 95 year old Holocaust criminals.

There is nothing wrong with legal system, what legal system can do if you give chance to flee the accused. They same will happen with nuclear liability bill.

This PTI chamcha has only reported half truth!
by Pankaj Kumar on Jun 09, 2010 09:02 PM

PTI correspondents or Cong chamchas do not even send proper dispatches. They read half that is convenient to their patron Congress party and dilute then down as much as possible. Read for yourself yesterday London Times/The Times. The articles were harsh and the comments were harsher. This judgment including light sentence after 26 years with no mention of Warren Anderson in the lowest court has been harshly criticized. Simply this judgment is a disgrace to any judicial system in 21st century. It is fit for some slave rules!

Govt pleases America
by Rackat Kanakam on Jun 09, 2010 07:42 PM  | Hide replies

Govt would have thought that if they arrest Anderson and keep him in jail, then it will make America very angry. FDI will be badly affected. FIIs will pull out of the stock markets. IT/BPOs will be struggling like our agriculture sector. US Visas will not come easy. Our neighborhood will be in turmoil, occasinally spilling into our territory. Then there is this evergreen Kashmir issue. So many like this.. Keeping Anderson happy is important and a good example for our own CEOs too..

I think u r bit off the mark.If our Govt showed any eagerness for a full
legitimate solution to the problems of accident victims,USA Govt would have appreciated us.But that was not to be,the reasons of which i have posted in this message column.

Callousness of the Ruling Elite
by Balan Iyer on Jun 09, 2010 07:40 PM  | Hide replies

There is no account for the 470 million dollars
given by Anderson to the accident victims. This accident happened 26 years back and no Govt BJP
or Congress bothered about it.Instead of reha
bilitating all the accident victims, the all the branches of Govt were immersed only in the legal wrangles about inquiry, court case etc.
When the situation was very hot,we could have
bent Warren Anderson and company backwards to
extract fullest and legitimate compensation for
the victims. But the goof coupled with callous
ness and corruption has gone to deep to warrant
any correction.

Inaidan political class has no sense on its own people
by Ramesh Suryaneni on Jun 09, 2010 06:39 PM

since years India doesn't learn how to respect its people lives, leave alone other contries respecting Indians. They remember them only when polls going on.Look the land acquisition process, worst in the world, dont give any sense thinking, or peoples voice, listens only corrupt politicians and business class. In world no country behaves like this with its own people except India. 15000 people lost due to this worlds worst corporate disaster, and it takes 25 years to give judgement which is nothing to poor people.

Has this spineless govt. able to do this ?
by vijaya kumar on Jun 09, 2010 06:22 PM  | Hide replies

The formation of the Group of Ministers (GOM) consisting of nine members is merely as attempt to pacify the agitated sufferers of Bhopal gas disaster. It again reminds us of N. Parkinsons theory of Committology ! When the head of an organization, may be the Prime Minister of a country, is confronted with an intractable problem admitting of no easy solution he forms a committee to which the problem is referred and the committee in turn forms sub-committee. It is done to buy time by pushing the problem under the carpet leaving it to find its own default solution. Mr. Narsimha Rao, the Prime Minister in the nineties specialized in this art. When questioned by Vajpayee he readily quipped that not taking a decision is in itself a decision !
What the victims of Bhopal tragedy would be more interested than death sentence to Anderson is their rehabilitation and payment of financial compensation which would mitigate their suffering during the rest of their life. Efforts may be continued at the diplomatic level for Andersons deportation to India for trial. If, however, America is not prepared to turn him over to India let the Obama Administration announce a massive financial package for relief and rehabilitation of the gas victims. If he dithers the Government may tell him frankly that the Government may find it difficult to get the nuclear insurance guarantee bill cleared by the Parliament. Has this spineless govt. able to do this ?
