First establish a just system..then gun for Anderson
by Ravi Iyer on Jun 08, 2010 10:18 AM  | Hide replies

Govt and Opposition are both responsible for genocide... The Legal System in India is yet to convict so many guilty. How can such a system deliver justice.

things will never be perfect even in the most civilized society. Therefore punishing Anderson and process of improving the system must go parallel

Let us stop obfuscation!
by Aravind Raman on Jun 08, 2010 10:13 AM

Warren Anderson is culpable and both Indian and the U.S governments had probably struck a deal to protect him long back to ensure better bilateral investments and to further US investments in India.
Nobody can say that India is free of corruption and that Indians are paragons of virtue. But this does not absolve Warren Anderson from his guilt.
Let us not obfuscate any further for God's sake! There is a nasty feeling about the whole thing and as usual it is the poor who have got the raw deal.
We can only hope for divine intervention!

Wake up media
by guruji on Jun 08, 2010 10:13 AM  | Hide replies

If you can devote hell a lot of time for trivia, please do not stop with one off messages such as this. The media should pound and hound the politicians, the people responsible and all others to the horror of Bhopal. They should be constantly interfering with the private lives of all these individuals and make life hell for the culprits so that justice is delivered rather than paying lip service once in a while. Will the media do this service? I think they wont as these guys will not get their bread and butter if they were to pursue the industrialists and politicians

Will you blame them?
by Harish Menon on Jun 08, 2010 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

20000 killed and lakhs maimed for generations to come.

After all that, the Indian state has let them down. The judiciary has let them.

Will you blame them if at some point of time they take the help of anti-social elements like Naxals to wreak revenge?

Qualitylessness
by ashish bhatnagar on Jun 08, 2010 10:07 AM

The 'qualitylessness' is the problem of India.
People think only Supreme Court or some High Courts can give a proper decision. In many Government departments, the work of employees is bereft of quality(delay is only a part of iy). No body pays heed to it, unless something like UCC happens. If quality were there, the various inspections and checks by Govt. would have caught potential for hazard in the factory, Anderson would not have been able to leave India, etc. etc. One may argue that bribery and corruption are the real culprits, but they are only second to it. A mangalore crash can not be blamed on corruption, nor Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, nor attack on Taj .

Absconding Anderson
by pallu banjo on Jun 08, 2010 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

Does this man Anderson have any conscience. Why ofcourse he is an American and all Americans have conscience. They are the most respectable and respect human rights and dogs too. They will never allow dogs n America to live dogs lives. Especially the sort of live that the Indian dogs live.So what they have loves and they hve a right to beauty parlours and special cars with chauffers and matron to look after their needs. The president and all his cohourts also have dogs, well manicured and pedicured and the secretairies dont enjoy such facilities. But Indian dog is better off. This is conscience and respect for life. But this is confined to their American boundries. Indians are beyond that.

Banjo:

What has Anderson's conscience got to do with the Indian judicial system?

Now do we expect the perpetrators of crimes to themselves come and help us deliver justice to the victims?

Tall expectations, I'd say... :(

Where is the Indian Govt taking any accountability?
by Sudarshan Shreenivas on Jun 08, 2010 10:01 AM

The responsibility for safe operation of factories also lies with factory safety inspectors appointed by the Government. But all of these guys are only bothered about collecting their hafta and do not display any interest in actually doing their job. In the list of convicted persons, there is no factory inspector mentioned at all. Why? If the production manager of the company can be held responsible for poor maintenance of equipment, should not the factor inspector also be convicted of culpable homicide arising out of dereliction of duty?
