Rs.20,000.0 for a dead gas victim absurd by any standards in U.s it would be $ 1.0 Mil. The GOI should compensate for 25 years of misrule .The then ministers Judges should be made accountable and their property confiscated and distributed amongst the Victims

What options left?
by Bhagat Singh on Jun 07, 2010 09:18 PM  | Hide replies

What a shame to Indian judiciary, Goverment and all of us! After 26 years of suffering for over 1 lakh people, 8 people get convicted for meagre 2 years in Prison and that too they walk out on same day in Bail!

Osama killed 3000 people in US and US bulldozed two countries - one which is not even involved - and killed millions of people. I am not saying we should too but at least bring Warren Anderson, former chairman of UCC, to justice.

He is happily living in Palatial mansion in NYC & Florida while his cronies in India get 2 years. What a Justice! If s son of MP is dead, justice would have been long served but 25000 poor people's lives costs a hair?

Imagine the heartache of a dad & mom who lost their son or daughther or viz-a-viz on the fateful night. They waited for 26 years wanting justice and this is what they get?

Why wouldn't people take up arms and fight the govt when they were driven to such despair? No wonder Naxals are growing stronger by day.

Sure is shame to indian judiciary. However before concluding we should analyse the proceeding as well as the law. If a trail is before a magistrate He can give maximum punishment not more than three years. All the sections under Indian criminal Procedure Code if the punishment is more than three years then the cases should be committed to sessions court. Only cases under sections where the punishment is less then three years would be tried by Magistrate. The, CBI, Govt. and every body involved in this case know very well that the punishment cannot be more than three year. It the the fault of CBI and Govt (state and center). to leave the accused for less punishment.

Yes it is somewhat shame of Indian judiciary to carry on a serious matter to 26 years.

This is an industrial disaster. It happened in the middle of city, that means it was invited to set up dreaded industry. Secondly, what was our Deptt. of Industry monitoring in all these years, just accepting production, turnover, import/export reports?
Thirdly saftey inspectors - what were they doing, just collecting weekly/monthly?

Fourth point - how many of our fellow citizens are sincere in their work. The work starts from ground level and the laziness and irresponsibility starts from there itself. Executives in the core are always disturbed due to irresponsible teams.

Industry runs through management brains and it does not means they are culpable homicide people, who are eligible for punishment.

The punishment should be extended to all those who are involved including the lower levels and its supervisory. Commenting on an aftermath is just waste.

Can someone tell me what's happening with Madhu Koda, Lalit Modi, Sharad Pawar, A.Raja....??? list is long but no wonder many of us (Indian Public) wud have forgot these name due to our hectic daily schedules!!! Public here truly forgets things even before they can remember or understand.... this means the list will only grow and we the great public will forget even faster. Justice in India... what is that? Justice as someone rightly said is a Pros-ti-tute!

Clean the system with a blower!
by Pankaj Kumar on Jun 07, 2010 06:07 PM  | Hide replies

Going through one of the most corrupt and incompetent judicial system and equally worse prosecution, it will be death penalty to victims and not the culprits! Fight for cleaning the system. I can understand the tortures of the victims. If anyone has a case in Indian courts, one should understand!
