Its our job to get our infrastructure in place, give our citizens (i.e. ourselves) security against external threats like Paki sponsored or Paki stateless terrorists, not the US' job.
The US has every right to arm, fund or do whatever it wants with Pakistan. At the same time we have the right to do whatever we want with Russia, France, Israel, China it is none of US' business, but if we choose to ignore alternatives and our own old friends because the perennial cutie / hottie, who earlier was not willing to spit in our direction is now giving us an occassional smile, that is our prerogative and foolishness.
Nevertheless, we should also remember that culturally, politically and economically, we have more in common with the US than with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or China. Our irritation with Pakistan, should not blind us to a great friendship, based on equality with the US.

Hi A.Indian,i appreciate the legitimacy of your true feeling which i 100% share with you.Your last sentence almost foxed me! If there is a great friend ship with USA based on equality, then there are no problems for us,blind ness or otherwise. It also pains me looking at our leaders sucking up to USA.

Best Comment I have ever read on rediff message board. Thank YOU !!!
Dear Manmohan, Do you have guts to call Obama's bluff when he comes to India or will you bend backwards to accomodate American interests and concerns sacrificing India's interests? America has a history of double crossing India , please dont get carried away by sweet talk and rhetoric of Obama and his minions about India being a great democracy, sharing common ideals interests an spiritual stuff etc . All the bullshit that Obama will spout are written by a paid speech writer with an assignment to prepare a speech to fool Indians using flowery language and equally flowery rhetoric. If America is really a friend of India ,then why don't the Chinese think twice before starting their old games of bullying India on Indo China border question. It is obvious to all that even the chinese or Pakistanis dont take the Indo American friendship seriously enough . Otherwise they would have behaved better when dealing with India (knowing that America is India's FRIEND!). Obama's visit is a waste of Indian taxpayers money. Americans are plain and simple businessmen out to make a fast buck, no matter even if it is dipped in the human blood .
secular usa talks to infidel india and gives money to pakis to channel it to secular zzihadi groups [ congi supporters ] and thus ensures that aam admi always gets killed.
dont trust these secular ppl like usa-pakis-congi-china zzaudis.
I had read that Obama had told that Mahatma Gandhi is his inspiration and also keeps a small hanuman statue in his pocket. I have also read that lady clinton had earlier running a movement in US called Look India to promte family values among Americans (you can also note that she didd't give up clinton even when he was coaught with monica and just made him to realise his mistake and apologise.
NDA's pokran had shown India's strength to world and Vajpayee visits to US has made americans feel who we are.
Now, UPA should make use of Obma and Clinton, to get maximum benifit out of US. With them in our side we should warn China for supporting Naxalism through Mao's. We should warn Pak for exporting Terrorism. Let us be vigilent to take all the technoligies of computer chips from them to grow faster and not the potato chips to sell ourselves to them.

I think every one in India is in a false impression that Obama is a friend to India, which is not true. Bush was way better than Obama, for his policy towards India. The widely publicised issue related to "hanuman statue" is not the one he is keeping, it is in fact one of the "good luck" items given by his supporters during his campaign (If it is for good luck you tend to keep everything). Secondly, from the day one his policy is not friendly towards India, from increasing the aid to Pakistan militarily, and by coining "Buffalo to Banagalore" against outsourcing. By putting the Nuclear Treaty on back burner, and not lifting ban on ISRO and other "entities" for technology transfer. He has NOT done a single thing to support India. He is just sweet talking nothing else. Not sure if his support to Pakistan is strategic or personal interest. But, one thing is sure before we blindly praise him, let us remember thought a fool Bush was better for India.
Big Mouth, Big Talk, Time Wasted, Too Much Smiles, High Drama.
Answer is clear. Nothing has changed. Nothing will happen. We come back empty-handed. They have Hollywood; we have Bollywood; just another round of real life drama...!
US knows they no more can take on China directly. By highlihgting freindship with India they are trying to create a prop vs China. India shouldnt fall into this a pursue a mutuallt beneficial relationship with China as they are the future super pwoer, our neighbours and we have many issues to resolve.
