First let india become a democracy. Then lecture others on the merits on democracy. India is a failed democracy.

Democracy vs. Dictatorship
by Manoj Dev on Jul 29, 2010 02:34 PM

Benevolent dictatorship can actually uplift a country rather than democracy. India is a prime example of failing its people. Historically, US practice in the name of democracy is to interfere in the affairs of other countries; actually, othewise, their entire Executive set-up starting from the President would have little work to do. Hopefully, in respect of Burmah, our ministers and IFS would not make it their job to destroy a relationship.

US should take note of the difference between Burma and Pakistan
by Ramadas on Jul 29, 2010 01:45 PM

1. Burma is not run by bloodthirsty jihadists;
2. They do not export terrorism;
3. They do not meddle in neighbouring countries; and
4. They do not go round imposing their beliefs on their people.

If the US is really interested in helping Burma, try not deal with them the way US deal with N Korea. Try and deal with them with some respect like the way the Chinese are dealt with. Help their citizens to earn a living within their own country. If US companies can put up manufacturing companies in China why not in non-communist Burma too. China has slowly changed so will Burma if given the same chance as China.

"We have raised Burma in our conversations with Indian interlocutors. We've made very clear to Indian friends that we think India's very important role in the international community gives it a voice," he said. ...

US WANTS INDIA TO PERSUADE BURMA ON DEMOCRACY
by FALTU RAM on Jul 29, 2010 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

YES WE SHOULD PERSUADE BURMA ON DEMOCRACY. WE SHOULD ANNOY THE MILITARY RULERS OF BURMA AND IGNORE OUR STRATEGIC INTERESTS IN A FRIENDLY BURMA. AN UNFRIENDLY BURMA CAN SUPPORT NORTH-EAST INSURGENCY GROUPS, PROVIDE MILITARY AND NAVAL BASES TO CHINA CLOSE TO INDIA, DENY INDIA OIL AND MINERAL EXPLORATION RIGHTS, KEEP INDIA OUT OF ITS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS ETC. WHAT HAS USA DONE IN REAL TERMS TO MAKE PAKISTAN STOP CROSS-BORDER INSURGENCY IN AFGHANISTAN AND INDIA, WHAT HAS USA REALLY DONE TO PRESSURISE PAKISTAN TO PUNISH THE 26/11 CONSPIRATORS, WHAT HAS USA DONE TO ENSURE THAT PAKISTAN IS NOT THE GLOBAL HOT SPOT AND EXPORTER OF TERROR, WHAT HAS USA DONE TO REIN IN THE ISI AND ITS INSTRUMENTS THE TALIBAN AND LeT?
USA IS GREAT IN ADVISING OTHERS, WHAT IS ITS OWN RECORD BOOK???
