Thanks, rediff

Once again, Rediff has managed to lend its service as the govt's mouth piece! Despite displaying a photograph where lakhs of people have gathered in Lal Chowk, your reporter claims that protesters were paid.... you telling me one found a way to pay lakhs of people when Section 144 was imposed.... or was it bank transfers? Coz i rem all the banks were shut for months. I shudder to think what proof she asked this supposedly "head of stone throwers" when he made such allegations. May be she needs to go back to journalism school? Wonder if she asked the state why they are dishing out Rs 5 lakh compensation to these so called 124-odd stone pelters (men, women and kids as young as 9) who were shot to death by security forces? why would ur govt give money to people who have been paid already???? time to ask the right questions and not fall for state-sponsored propaganda, lady.

Dear Editor
There is someone by Id King below inflaming the passion and talks about Guajarat Riots etc and still it is published I made some valid points and try to explain things as best as I can in reply to the user id Abid Kabeer twice immediately it says awaiting moderator review .
I do not know why ?I have written comments in 1000s with valid points not just here but different forums in Economic Times Of India ,Indian Express and Hindustan Times and I never hide my name or just put in initials but people here post bad commnets with initials like msn etc but still published .
So I must say there is no good moderation going on this site and i have to suspect this site now what motive it has as it had lots of news on India Pak affairs yesterday and today shifts to the above William Darlympares view.Afghanistan development will be decided by Afghan President Karzhai and its poeple and United Nations .Iam not usre the author above or rediff is helping the cause or harming the cause with such news as above

Dear Editor and Reader
It is william Darylmapare views not world view nor a United Nations view.First of all there is a war always for a very long time in afghanistan I do not know if development can take place at the same time the war takes place iam not sure.May be the war needs to stop and devlopment should start in full scale ,as the war goes on it will be logistics ,army and injured treated so the focus may not reach civilians .
Also all people questioning Indias Involvment in Afghanistan India has treated Pakistani Patients at Bangalore Narayana Hrudayalaya hosiptal and also india has Pan African E-network as proposed by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.Indias hosipatls also treated patients from UK,usa etc .So there are good doctors available and Afghanistan being neighbour India wants to help so why doubt India?Yes India is poor still it contributed to IMF a couple of billion dollars during this GFC.
It only shows Indias maturity and the role india playing why point fingers at India ?
Iam not sure why rediff publishes the above ?Is it to drive a point Afghanistan is neglected and it is the fault of others?

Please note tht Africa, Pak or UK, USA are not in the middle of war as is the case of Afganistan. This makes the case differnt than the other contries you mentioned. Plus those other countries r not in the backyard of Pakistan...This was the point the author of the article wanted to raise. However, as you said its the final word to abide by. Any country can take strategic decision as per its interest. So does India can.

So if the Afghan are backward and poor due to their faith, is it the fault of other nations that are hard-working, law-abiding and safe?

It is not clear why Rediff has chosen to quote this particular person on such important issues. If US is fighting a war in Afghanistan, then it has to spend required money on it. If there was no Taliban there, it could have made sense to US spend that money on development. But, the same person is finding fault in India doing the development work, setting up & running Hospitals etc. Is he talking sense?

it seems u r naive in politics....when everyone knows India has cripling poverty...and Health, Infra issues that gives rise to Moaist kind...And we doing developement in Afganistan looks fishy...If we genuinely want Development then why not in Africa and other places...SIMPLE...Politics....It gave our arch enemy an excuse to support the Taliban and not to act on US dictates....

A lesson learnt over decades of experience with our bitter neighbour - never trust Pak. We are there for good in Afghanistan. China is just feeding Pak to keep India worried, it is equally evil on its part. It's not a strategic error for India to be in Afghanistan for good of Afghan people, if it is for any one else, India should not bother about it.

dear Mr. Abhinav, I M not with U. It is our habit to terrified neighbours to get some piece of land or some revenue. Ironically Indians failed to get any benefits. We fight with Pakistan in 1971 to usurp West Pakistan but we can not got success, and a new muslim state developed namely Bangaladesh. In the year 1990 we had sent peace sena to Sri Lanka to safeguard Jaffna Island, India lost Rajeev Gandhi. Now we have taken tough fight with Taliban in Afghanistan. Now God knows what will happen. I am scared about the existence of India in this fight.

Dear Mr.Zubair khan
I am not with you and your logic.
The indian state did not have any ambitions to grab any land of neighbours. It is they who want to divide india and people like you with your skewed logic are feeding into this.
Pakistan broke up due to its internal contraditions.Separation of bangladesh is good for india & it is different from west pakistan which considers itself part of the middle east while bangladesh is proudly a bengali state and are proud of their culture and language.Geographical factors will ensure that they remain friendly with india.
India must stay put in afghanistan and expand its operation to give military assistance so that pakistan will have india on two fronts. Also pakistan is being converted into a sunni muslim state where shias, ahmediayas, sufists and peace loving people have no place.
You need not be scared.India is emerging as a truly democratic, vibrant, multiethnic, multireligious super power but all of us indians need to contribute to it instead of becoming doubting thomases like you .
As for Sri Lanka i have no hesitation in saying that Rajiv Gandhi was wrongly advised on india's role their.
He should have instructed Indian army to ensure tamils security and tried to see that sri-lanka merges with india with tamil area merged with TN and sinhala pradesh created within indian union.

Dear Swaminathan,

Your comments have contradiction. Initially you are saying tht Indian state did not have any ambitions to grab any land of neighbours. At end you are advising tht Rajiv Gandhi shud have tried to merge Sri Lanks with India!

However, I'm pleased tht finally a Hindu has called Bangladesh a friendly country on this forum. Usually people call it another enemy here on this forum perhaps bcos its mojority Muslim!!!
