well done
by Soma Tripathi on Jul 09, 2010 09:11 PM

well I appreciate your research Dr Nirupam Bajpai.I think the biggest hurdle in India's development is honesty of people. In India People are not honest for their jobs.If the cops are honest and refuse to take bribes similar way in any profession if the bribe issue is eliminated by being honest you cant imagine how much India can grow.India is blessed with a far better climate ,really good vegetation and good manpower as well as intelligence if you comapre with west. But if you see west people are so honest about everything.the person who is supposed to come to his office at 9 comes much before it and finishes all his work not keeping anything for tomorrow.can u even imagine this in India. So I would say -be honest, respect others.

improve effciency
by Dhirendra jain on Jul 09, 2010 12:20 PM

We can easily improve effciency of all these programme by having customer care department in all state who records all phone call made by citizen. Customer care number should be global like (100 for emergency), you should get ticket also.
All secretary and collector should forced to call teacher, doctors and other grass root level officer every month and keep vaerifying same with local citizen by simply calling them.

Dr.Jeffrey Sachs and Dr.Bajpai
by Narayan Kuppuswamy on Jul 08, 2010 02:25 PM

They are doing a great job along with Dr.Stiglitz.They are great economists and great human beings.
However one ting i would like to ask, what about population control, especially in India?I have not seen them address this issue.I feel population control is the key issue even if it rubs a few in a wrong manner.I would like to know their views.

Stupid Trendsetter, that was a humour article written for the magazine and not serious stuff. It is meant to be taken as a pun and not serious. Dont jump to conclusions and paint yourself black and blue. The world knows that is you Porkis who are that and not Indians. Have u not heard that Porkis pose as Indians the world over for jobs or run their businesses. First look up your failed nation failed status.

Wrong again

Bajpai has taken the same view what the govt and public has. Unfortunately it is the same reason for the failure for the health system. Think why Soldiers are disgruntled and are in depression, why forces are unable to purchase latest arms, why railways, air India aren’t unable to improve, why NE states couldn’t develop, Why education system is dying… The answer is every agency has been headed by CIVIL SERVANTS who know nothing but have powers to influence everything. Politicians are mere scapegoats but real culprits are these babus. Why Indian immigrants succeed overseas, our private firms are profitable but govt airlines / railways/ road transport in losses & shambles. Give it a thought. Remove NON – FUNCTIONING CIVIL servants and give decision making to these technical teams, they will surprise you with success… I remember only 1 Proactive CIVIL SERVANT who stopped ex PM Vajpayee from signing Agra accord with Musharraf and saved the country, such civil servants are rare of rarest. Lastly the doctor in Tamil nadu shouldn’t get well before coming to work having a fever of 104??? Think him to be human tooo… Replace him for a few days till he re-joins. Until this view of employees as robots changes we may have to wait much much longer… Jai Hind
