Current price of petrol in India matches 140$ barrel of crude oil. This does not justify the price of petrol. Today international price is $70. What will happen if the crude oil reaches $140. Petrol would cost Rs. 110 a litre. This govt is crealy nailing
78 BEST buses and stoned and damaged. BEST should send the repair bill to BJP including loss of earnings to the day the buses don;t go back on road. If you wanted to go out and swim against the tide you were always welcome. Why did'nt you go to work ?
We have every right to protest and we would do that. We are not doing it for just us,but for the common good of the people. Rising prices is not just my issue, its an issue that concerns every man.
for your info, bundhs have been used as an instrument to get a message accross to the governments in many countries.
If you do not know, i am pasting one for your benefit.
"Tens of thousands of striking Greek civil servants have held a mass rally in central Athens in protest at wage and pension cuts.
Unions called the 24-hour general strike in reponse to austerity measures aimed at fixing Greece’s broken public finances.
Public services ground to a halt as protesters converged on parliament to voice their disgust at the government slashing spending to satisfy the terms of a 110 billion euro bailout from the EU and IMF.
They shouted slogans such as “thieves come out “ and “give us back our stolen money” as baton-wielding riot police held the demonstrators back.
While some tempers flared, there was no repeat of the violence of a similar protest on the 5th of May when three people died in running street battles with officers."
You have no right to say as to what I should do. U could have reached your place of work,if you wanted to.If transport was a problem, its fo

Arihantak .... When the Greeks protested, did you see anywhere that they forced others not to go to work? Dont compare Indian jungle with civilized foreign countries. Sure you have the right to protest, just leave us alone who want to go to work.

Harsha, You better go to Italy and take your family too. Because you think people in your motherland are not civilized and foreign countries are civilsed.
This report was filed without leaving office premises. All content has been supplied by police mouthpieces and dutifully carried by lazy armchair journalists at Rediff. This story doesn't reflect reality. Even by Sun TV's account, pro-DMK, bandh had near success throughout in TN. In Karnataka, it was total. In Kerala and WB, being Communist forts, bandh was total success.

And what have you achieved by following blind people. has the prices come down immediately. YOU PEOPLE HAVE BEEN USED AND BJP HAS MADE ITS STAND STRONG FOR NEXT ELECTIONS. IF BJP COMES IN TO POWER IT WILL BE THE SAME STORY. INDIANS ARE CROOKS AND PARTIES ARE MEGA CROOKS. IT IS A MATTER OF BLIND FOLLOWING A BLIND.

the concept of BANDH was first utilized by MKGandhi through NON-COOPERATION movement..
Yes, YOUR MKGandhi.. of course losses will accrue, but looking at every issue from a pure business point of view would take away the sheen from the import of the issue.
Banning the concept of BANDH would be akin to banning the concept of KILLING..
Killing someone is wrong, but killing terrorists/naxals/criminals is NOT.. same with BANDH..
if you have a just cause, viz., highlighting the unbearable inflation due to inept/corrupt practices of the ruling party, any number of BANDHs are justified..
But they are just the beginning - they will end with synergizing the destruction of the CON party.
In most of the countries the price of petrol is around Rs: 16.50 paisa per liter. In India over the above price the consumer has to pay, central tax Rs: 11.50 paise Rs: 9.75 production cost Rs: 12 towards VAT=Rs: 49.75 It’s sold for Rs: 50.03 The petroleum ministry and the PM say the petroleum companies are losing lots of money due to low petrol price in India! It seems the government which fought and won the last election was through the petrol dealer’s money!! Other wise we can’t explain this rise in petrol price every three months. In the year 2008-9 Hindustan petroleum company had a net profit of Rs: 574.5 crores, similarly in 2009-10 Indian oil had a profit of Rs: 5556.77 crores and Bharat petroleum had a profit of Rs; 5015.5 crores. If these companies had incurred a loss, then where from, they got this profit?? Suddenly why the congress Government is trying to help these oil companies? Is there a directive from across the sea or collecting money for next election? You the silent Indian public must judge and revolt. It’s not the BJP, CPM or other parties but it should have been by the common man who should have shown your displeasure. Central Government puts the blame on states and vice versa. No state government whether its congress ruled state or other parties ruled states sale petrol at a lesser price Indian public are expert in take things lying down and take the burden of rising prices. Here is a comparison of

Petrol prices in Pakistan are not 26 but Rs.67.95 (pakistan currency) and converted to indian currency it would amount to Rs.37.20. This are july 2010 prices. Most "facts" mentioned in comments here are not cross checked and believed to be true by readers.

The whole economy is adjusting itself. You want growth, this is price you pay. there is no short cuts. Later on when more ccompany compete with each other sell their things then prices will come down. also more and more use ot technology will make things cheaper. But for now we have to bite the bullet. there is no such thing as magic button in open market system that whole world follows.
The terms of the government is 5 years unless UPA breaks. There will be ups and downs and the government may not have all the controls. We must allow them to function smoothly for the full term. 5 years is a reasonable period. People will get opportunity to them throw out at end of their term. Till then people should co-operate.

Hehehe. You are a born slave to Govt. Accepting all Sh1t from them is your destiny.
High food prices will make the farming sector more appealing to our rural folks and they wont have to run to cities to earn a living. This will increase living standard in rural India which is the REAL India and we will have less congested cities.
High fuel prices means that people will conserve fuel and that means less pollution in our town and cities. It also means that people will look for environmentally safe energy sources like solar and wind energy.
