India's defence diplomacy: Many forces at work
by sushil kumar on Nov 11, 2010 11:12 AM

For Israel, shunned by large parts of the world, being good friends with India is a God-given opportunity to rejoin the human race.

For this opportunity the Israeli's, besides thanking the God can also express their gratitude to the Pakistani and Chinese dispensations, the hostility and continuous needling of India by whom is the main reason for having pushed India into the arms of Israel.

State of the art technologies

We should, alongside these purchases, focus on developing our own technology. As self reliance in this field is of utmost importance

Learning to fish will last

a longer time than receiving the fish.
Similarly Crating Technologies should be treated as more valuable than the 80 Billion Dollar "pattas" purchases.

Also China has aggressive strategies. We have none.. hence we just play defensive..

Stupid selection policy costing us dear
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jul 31, 2010 10:51 AM

Indian outlook is totally defensive. There is no aggressive intent, no planning to take 20 wickets. The selectors are more afraid of losing...so they don't even make any attempt to win. And depend on the toss to try and bat first. Even that will backfire against strong bowling attacks like RSA, Eng, Aus or Pak.

So, never mind the bowlers, Dhoni. Don't pretend that you feel for them. If you really cared about their workload, you would have picked 5 bowlers. Instead you prefer to protect your (already pampered) batsmen.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see more bowlers go the Flintoff/Murali route: forget tests and make easy money by playing IPL. There also, the bowlers are cannon-fodder, but the torture lasts for much less time, and there is oodles of money on offer.

Summing up, we want more dead pitches so that our Bradmans can boost their test average? After all, shouldn't Sachin get to 50 test hundresds?? Isn't that more important than winning tests?

And sponsors' darling Yuvy is feeling left out...he is sad that he missed scoring some easy runs. He is licking his chops and waiting for the next pitch to be of the same lifeless variety.

Paper tigers...

"Will it be France, the only country which weighed its words carefully when India went nuclear in 1998 -- when the US imposed sanctions against all high-tech imports by India?"

How incorrect is this statement. I cant even begin to correct it. Please dont be imaginative.

a strong nation is strong in economic front, defense front (No tolerance) even if the conditions are against us. our self respect and esteem have been sold on the table of Indo-Pak talks and rest of the respect is being taken by Times of India "Aman ki Aasha" programme. WE want peace but we dont want peace at the cost of our citizens. Y USA, UK, Israel dont tolerate any aggression from terrorist group. COz they are a strong nation. Countries only look at india coz of cheap labor and a big potential market. nothing else.

One can take help from the strong nations. But at the same time we should conclude that we,india, are also strong. So why to compete with China? We can still build trustworthy relations with China that take China's love for Pakistan & Indian feud with Pakistan into account. This will be most prudent for us all.One has to make a beginning. How,When,By Whom-I don't know!
