can a private company issue postage stamps? will the US postal service accept letters bearing such stamps? just calling them "postage" doesn't change the fact that a private company is receiving money and not the US postal service. hence US postal service is under no obligation to deliver these letters to the addressees. and even if they do they will charge the letter as without postage. besides wasn't Telgi arrested for something similar in India? i will be glad if someone will clarify these points for me.

"These postages have not been issued by the US Postal Service, but these are as good as stamps and is legally valid. We do not call them stamps. We call them as postages. But these can be used as any other normal stamp," Roy Betts, spokesman of USPS said.
