Each country should follow its own system, but allow the freedom of expressing opinions.

If the Chinese government had done nothing wrong, why blackout the broadcast screen?
Instead of doing that, Chinese government should openly object to such awards.
Also, Chinese doesn't have to counter others by "they are also violating human rights"
We look at our own country. If other criticizes us, we check it. We don't need to counter statement, we NEED checking.
A country should advance with conflicts in point of view. If a government cannot advance together with people of different view inside working with government, then that is not a government.
But my stance in this is neutral. I am not sure. Perhaps Chinese government have their reasons. But then again, maybe the west are not totally wrong. Just because west is problematic doesn't mean their argument are wrong.
No flaming here, I do not support any. I support the rightful side and judge all issues individually.
Don't blame China just because the West does so. India is also violating almost all sorts of human rights of the people in the North-East. These are done in the name of counter insurgency. Only because of its lack of good governance, the Indian government fails to tackle the insurgency problems in the region. They fail to bring neither a military nor a political solution. What they only do is imposing more and more human rights violating acts like the AFSPA which allow the military to kill a common man just on suspicion. One important cause (among many) for the insurgency is the complete negligence of the region by the Indian government.
Now, the Indian government should start paying more attention to the North-East if they still want the region to be a part of India OR allow them to be seperated from India because presently, the Indian policy is a COMPLTETE DISASTER in the region.

Still the Northeastern states of India want to remain with India and rebuff China. Even Tibetans will choose India over China if these are the only choices available to them.

In India you have the freedom to make noise; this man is in prison because he chose to make noise in China. Freedom is something that we take for granted now...think about what it'll be like to have loads of money, but not the freedom to spend it as you want, or to have fancy roads and trains, but not the freedom to go where you want, or to have the biggest malls and the tallest buildings in the world, but not the freedom to protest if they make your family work 24/7 to build them. Think.

I agree that we can make noise without the risk of being thrown in the jail. But is that the only need for a human being? Our fake democracy, as pointed out by Darwin, gives us the opportunity to shout, but does it even care what we are shouting about? I hate the Chinese government, but that does not make our govt any better.

There is a diff. Before blaming Indian Govt, Indian Govt. is elected by Indian people. Indian Govt. is made of Indian people. Indian Govt is made by Indian people. It may be slow and cumbersome but it generally moves in the right direction.

There is no question about Liu Xiaobo getting Nobel prize.He outmost deserving person. But my point is that why not Indian people are getting this for maintaining PEACE after such big big scams like CWG ,2G,Land scams,Fodder scams and lot many.Infact each Indian deserve it outstandingly...Jai hind
