Why isn't he talking about Private Treaties?
by alex on Dec 03, 2010 08:29 PM

TOI's Private Treaties business, where in TOI advertises about the company (it's in agreement with) without making it look like an advert, on its edits.? Arun Shourie referred to PT website in an interview with rediff published today.

middlle-class is already aware that most news are only views
by viswanatha seshadri on Dec 03, 2010 08:13 PM  | Hide replies

especially in english papers. same thing about the vernaculars will also soon be out. no one trusts pre-poll surveys conducted by news-media any more. even pictures of large crowds in meetings can be computer-generated. intra-communications among people themselves, in groups of friends, culture-associations etc. can be the only source of real news and understandings of the political goings-on.
humans in democracies should learn to be social beings, looking and working for social good, with greeding for personal gratifications. youngsters with free sms on their cell-phones can be the real transmitters of real news to society at large..

perhaps, the main reason why outlook mehtha published burkha-gate could be that, in one of the ndtv discussion programs participated by him, burkha ignored him too much. the anchors do operate with no respect or concern for participants. when someone says something adverse to the channel-viewpoint, anchor interrupts with own view as the summary!

not just media but whole nation particularly a democratic nation. media is very powerful. Sadly it is being used for a very narrow cause of money. .. Media has the power to help build a nation. But greed has overtaken their very purpose of existance. God save us

Mr. Sainath, Exceptional! Incredible!! Encouraging!!!
by Bharatiya on Dec 03, 2010 07:53 PM

Mr. Sainath, your speech did instill confidence in the crores of Indians, who were frustrated with the 'sold out' mainstream media like NDTV, CNN-IBN, TIMES NOW, Aaj Tak, Times of India, Indian Express and so on.

When we find likes of Barkha, Vir Sanghvi, Rajdeep, Arnab Goswami, Karan Thapar, Pranoy Roy, Vinod Dua with their 'begging bowls' standing in a que outside 10, Janpath, the headquarters of Italian Mafia, compromising national interest and breaching tenets of rational journalism, your voice is clear, loud and pleasantly encouraging!

At least there is one journalist in India who has spine and moral balance. More importantly sense of institutional sanctity!

When some of our friends in mainstream media rise firm, the day is not far that democracy evolves leaps and bound, even in this age of 'the great plunder of national wealth'

My sincere salute to your 'sound inner voice'

So now ethics depend on how much you earn?
It does not matter how much you earn in local currency, only thing that matters is how much you can buy in that money. Before food price inflation, people could manage a living with that money. Definition of poverty is pegged on value of Dollar which is flawed. If dollar falls in value, a lot of poor people will be above poverty line because they earn more than a dollar a day.

Burgah and others are still there! Where is moral!
by Indhea on Dec 03, 2010 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

NDTV NEWS staill Burgah is working and others too. It is very hard to digest, couldn't know wether to laugh or cry when she is coordinating the discussion on 2G Scam.

This is not happened all of sudden now, it is happen for years. It happen top to bottom, even few journalist use the news and black mail them. For example, when there is school missing some approval, they smell it and black mail for not publishing in the news. Some of the journalist even make paid news even for Half Plate Briyani and a quarter wishkey! More than all above, top bosses of Media lean to specific party because of their personal/underground association with political parties.

Media never acted against this issue, it was dared in internet in all corner, then only they couldn't avoid and discussing it.

This will be never changed, readers are alwasy see one side of news... It is our fate..

Not only Burqa, Arnab Goswami also is paid journalist. He will not allow panel members to talk against his own view. With tit bit leaked documents he shows off as if he only discovers all scams in India.

Media ganging up...
by Rajindran Annath on Dec 03, 2010 07:34 PM  | Hide replies

It is pretty obvious that the media has ganged up against one political party. Is it right on the part of the fourth estate to go to this extent to kill a political party. I wonder what is the media's gain or interest in killing this party. I hope there is someone out there who can see thru this game plan and bring the culprits to the book. I have least interest in politics and is not a follower of any party as such. Even to my eyes this unholy ganging up of the media is pretty obvious. A helpless just-another-citizen like me can only look forward to the people who are in the know of things to do something about it. I really dont know what I should be doing.

Barkaha dutt/Vir sangvi to be suspended short term
by rajesh r on Dec 03, 2010 07:32 PM  | Hide replies

The media barons of NDTV and HT should show the guts to suspend this tainted journalists shorterm as a punishment. This so called new generation party going sensational news makers should abandon for some time. They are just making noise to divert people attention from serious issues.Their hot topic are related with afflunet people and not concern with aam aadmi. They conduct 2 hour debatee on sexual pattern of woman above 60years but not on people dying because of poverty. This vir sangvi looks like a big drunker in looks itself..see his eyes yar..who is following him..They work for corporates and accepts tips for their lobbying.Kudos to outlook to breaking the mask off Ms.Barkha and Mr.Vir sangvi.Wait next may be the big noise maker Mr.Rajdeep sardesai.Any news he will sensationalise...Playing to the tunes of American interest is CNN IBN is doing always. Its actually anti Indian. For making extra money this so called JOURNALIST HOLY Kids actually sold their soul to people like Meera Radia.
