What ever is wrong needs to be criticised. The critic is doing a favour if people have the maturity to understand. Even Indian sages like Tulsidas and others advised to have critic one's own house as crticism leads to reform, correction and overall improvement. I am doing a favour by pointing out what is wrong. It is for people to take it in the right spirit.

The Emperor Never Wears Clothes
by brahmarakshas on Dec 02, 2010 03:30 PM

What the hell, any emperor never wears any clothes or if at all its as normal as dress as anyone else. It's all the making of the acolytes who sing paeans to the emperor, be it may Churchill or Gandhi or the US or India. We all tend either glorify things more than what they deserve or completely run them down.

That was true of Enland in Scott's times. I am sure he would have a different take if he were to appear in India today.

Millions of Indians who bail out to settle in gora lands would rather have goras rule them.

Churchill was one of the greatest
by Vivek Dev on Dec 02, 2010 08:39 AM  | Hide replies

Churchill was one of the greatest leaders in history and not amount of mudslinging by Indians can change that fact. Gandhi and Nehru were responsible for the world's biggest blood baths in history. These researchers should focus on that.

Vivek bro, yeah Churchill was great as were Gandhi and Nehru. That does not exclude the fact that Churchill was a bloody thirsty racist as far as India was concerned and also the fact that Bapu and Nehru made mistakes in the partition. What the heck, everyone screws up sometime or other and one should have the guts to see things individually for their sake instead of glorifying individuals as some sort of saint.

BTW, if you look at things in micro detail, Russia and Stalin were probably more responsible for Hitler's downfall than good old Churchill.

Indians are the world's biggest racists. They practise mother of all racist ideologies caste. Any leader who screws up territorial interests of the country is considered unworthy of leading a nation and is quickly and effectively marginalised.
About Stalin and Russia well it is your opinion. I dont know whether it has any basis in facts. I am therefore in no position to offer any comment. You may be right, you may be wrong.

Gandhi and Nehru were not great, brahma. Nehru gave away thousands of sq km of India territory to China. Gandhi was talking Hindu muslim unity and could not avert partition. Both were disasters for India. If they are great leaders according to you then you need to understand what is a great leader.

Any leader who loses even one sq inch of national territory to other country is a monumental failure, whatever other achievements he may have. Churchill did not lose UK territory. That is the primary consideration of good leadership.

Would I be wrong in assuming that you are some kind of right wing fanatic, who probably thinks military rule is what needed for the country, Hitler was right et all :)

Dev babu, so according to you, Churchill was a great leader who starved people. Is that right. Well good to you brother, if you want a leader like that. I reiterate again that no one is perfect and greatness does not exclude the person termed great making any mistakes. Try to understand that first brother.

True, Churchill had great chutzpah, but he also had his weaknesses.

BTW, you have not commented on Stalin and Russia that I have mentioned earlier. Are they great or not :)

I would not believe anything that Indian writers put out. Indians are not known for honesty of any kind, even intellectual. Take it with a pinch of salt. I would rather believe the brits on this, they have greater credibility.

@Vivek,
The point is brother Vivek, Churchill is not a paragon of virtue and he had his faults. Better that all of us start accepting that the people whom we admire the most too have faults. Gasp, they are also as human as us.

Chill bro.

Avinash anna, all leaders have their faults. Poor Dev baba does not understand that or maybe he does not want to understand.

The British were a spent force by the end of WWII and the mantle of superpower had passed to US and USSR. So Churchill baba had attacked USSR to start WWIII, well we may not have been around today to discuss this.
Well, this too could be taken as a sign of a great leader, leading the whole world to a near disaster.

You need to read your history more carefully. Churchill may have been a great leader for the West, but he certainly was a major irritant in so far as India and Indian independence is concerned.

Churchill was baaasturd

He was anti India and hated India to the most. A racist opportunist, as much as comparable to hitler. Had not the Americans intervened in the War Hitler would have made this fat swine clean his shoes.
