You must be joking...
by kristalsoldier on Dec 10, 2010 09:04 PM

This article begins by saying that "Cold Start" is India's military contingency plan. This is completely incorrect. Rather, "Cold Start" was (note the past tense!) the Indian Army's "doctrine" in the event of a hot war with Pakistan. Basically, it is about "how" the Indian Army would mobilize in the event of war. Previously, apparently it took the Indian Army (and the other Services) about 15-20 days to mobilize. The Cold Start doctrine was designed to enable the Indian Army to mobilize in about 72 hours. This is not - I repeat, not - a military contingency plan. To this extent this article is factually wrong. And, the tragedy is that general information about the Cold Start Doctrine has been floating around in open sources for a long while...and Rediff did not do its homework!

It is appearntthat the present world political and economic order is not carrying bright hope for the world community when the globalization slogan become a flop.Though the chinse economic system has shown sufficient strenght but they fail to popularise an alterative political order.Western democratic system is hijacked by corrupt economic practices. So world is waiting for new worldorder .Wikileak is an initial reaction for this order!!

What is new in this leak everyone knows.
by Batao Na on Dec 08, 2010 04:19 PM

Cold start was to reduce the troop movement time due to infrastructure bottle necks.
During operation parakram in 2001 it took more then 2 months just to mobilize the army.
In modern world even 2 days are too late as enemy will get warning.

I have seen from my own eyes tanks from Babina Cantonment in MP being shipped on trains and everywhere these trains stand on station outer for hours.

Cold start strategy was to overcome thise bottlenecks of roads and railway and maintain troops in forward position so that deployment time is reduced.

It was brilliant on part of Army actually they know Politicians will not do anything in next 20 years also to improve rail and road network so do something which is feasible in next 2 years.

Joint Military exercises.
by Tom Dick on Dec 05, 2010 05:34 PM

We do see news about joint military exercises with foreign troops. I wonder if it is necessary and is it a way to asses our capability and preparedness by our so called foreign friendly army? Then again there is no secret here in India. The 2 G spectrum scam has revealed who all play king makers here! For a few dollars more, anything is possible here.

corrupt politicians take bribes from pakistan, usa to keep quiet
by krishna ghosh on Dec 05, 2010 04:16 PM

THERE HAS BEEN LOT OF HUE & CRY AFTER THE WIKILEAKS REVEALATIONS.I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING INTERNATIONAL POLITICS FOR QUITE A LONG TIME. ONE THING IS VERY CLEAR TO ME THAT IS,INDIAN POL.ESTABLISHMENT IS TAKING BRIBES FROM PAKISTAN,USA &BRITAIN.OTHERWISE A COUNTRY LIKE PAKISTAN CANNOT CARRY OUT MILITANCY IN INDIA FOR LAST 25 YRS.& NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD TOLERATES IT JUST LIKE THAT.USA & BRITAIN BRIBE THE POLITICIANS BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT INDIA TO GO ALL OUT AGAINST PAKISTAN.THEY WANT PAKISTAN TO SURVIVE AS A NATION SO THAT THEY CREATE NUISANCE FOR INDIA.PAKISTAN WAS CREATED IN 1947 ONLY FOR THIS REASON.IF PAKISTAN GOVT.SAYS THEY WON'T HARRASS INDIA THEN USA & BRITAIN WON'T ALLOW THEIR POLITICIANS TO REMAIN ALIVE.[KRISHNA GHOSH]

Guts

UPA politicians live in "all fear, no guts" mindset.. and btw the fear is of loosing power and they don't really bother much about the loss of Indian territory or the loss of army personnel (and just forget about the aam aadmi). Otherwise action might have been taken against both china and pakistan in Siachin and POK

We witnessed the result of knee-jerk reaction after the attack on Parliament House in 2001.The Army was mobilised and the strike formations were poised for offensive ,leave of personnel was stopped and the possibility of a nuclear exchange was threatening the region. The forces remained mobilised for almost 12 months costing the exchequer crores of rupees. The silver lining was testing the battle readiness of the units and war preparedness of the formations. In the current scenario it would be sheer foolhardiness for India to launch offensives against China or Pakistan.Destruction and devastation to both sides would be unacceptably high.

Secularism is not a boon but a bane for this india.. it is a ultimate refuge of all the criminals and anti-nationals..and just like during 1000 year slavery hindus are sleeping and watching their country being plundered by corrupt and destroyed by minority appeasement..

Every patriotic Indian should vow to vote out the hidden agenda of the secularists...to cling to power with the help of muzlim communalism

we do not have a strong govt. and leadership
by Mr Walker on Dec 03, 2010 02:04 PM  | Hide replies

The biggest problem for Indians is their corrupt political leadership and lack of integrity and loyalty to country.

As a result corruption and personal interests are always before the national interests. This is clearly seen by how some politicians openly support fanatical behavior and even Pakisthan to gain votes from minorities.

It is sad but the so called sickular brigade is the biggest problem for this country we need strong leadership dedicated to the nation not for selfish interests

The reason there will be no attack on Pakisthan will be mostly that the UPA and its allies would not want to "hurt" the sentiments of the minorities and thats about it.
Vote bank appeasement politics is the problem of this country, especially because the UPA feels that Indian Muslims have a soft corner for Pakisthan.

Unfortunately in doing so they also question the loyalty of the Muslims in India.

Mr.Tiwari, what can you do to wake up these people from their sleep? Also Is our PM sleeping in his house.Wake him up first.Tell him you are not Congress person but first a Prime Minister or better write mail to our President to tighten our strict policies & rules over those who have done lot of scams.Ask any person for the MPs out of 572 in our parliament who have not done a single scam....Also go through every state & ask for the developments....Specially Orissa,Chhattisgarh,Bihar,UP & MP...Also take the percentage of muslims living in every state...it have increased threeefold in our country. That's the big headache...Also take our disputed state Jammu & Kashmir where regular voice of guns are heard...not a single hindu can live in harmony in J&K.Destroy this Congress Party & the other small parties. It will a first priority otherwise every state will show the scams in crores & billions wasted. The poor person will be unable to get the one-time food...from this period onwards.
