Called Oppana it is now performed in cultural programs not only by muslims but also by christians and hindus. So you are not from south india. And bastrds like mentioned above will spoil the secular fabric of india..And u are serious? about what muoron?

Good for u.

Let people enjoy or conduct marriage as per their wishes.

Why do u want to impose your values on others ?

That is the biggest issue we have today...People forcing others to follow their moral/religious values.

This has to stop. if you disagree, you can advise, educate of refrain.

But force is NOT an option.

A betetr thing to do would be to stop issuing FAWTAS.

Fatwa is an opinion.

It does NOT carry much weight.

It is NOT the word of god. So I urge all to not give too much importance to fatwas.

Did not Saudi King issue a circular slashing the prerogative of all Mullahs or maulvis to issue fatwas. He has assigned that the same is the privilege of only those who are educated and well versed in the subject. How come these people are issuing the same?

What he said, is it applicable all over the world or just Saudi??

The "Saudi king" is a dictator (a.k.a. THUG).

It may apply to people in saudi arabia has he has the power to enforce. It does not apply to anyone outside saudi arabia.

I read abt in newspapers and i think it also came in REDIFF as well.

But Imran, this Saudi King may be a dictator, but he has done a lot good for Saudi, (have u read the news on him in today's news on REDIFF - what MMS and Saudi king have in common), its these down in the list of today's news. I also heard from other sources, that he has done a lot good for not just his nation, but also to world peace and betterment of interaction between religions. Considering how orthodox Saudi is, he seems to have done a excellent job.

I do not think it is an internal matter.

It is a matter of INDIVIDUAL rights and freedom.

We must always voice our support to protect individual rights and freedom (Even if we do not agree with that individual's message).

It is a matter of principle.

Rights of Muslims are no greater of lesser than non-muslims.

This is no different from the Goondas of SS forcing people not to celebrate valentines day. If I oppose the SS, how can I not oppose these clerics.

It is a matter of principle and protecting individual freedom and rights.

That is something I will sign up for.

We need to ban the use of speakers in ALL public places. It is a nuisance for all.

We must also ban the un-authorized use of public places for worship. This includes friday or eid prayers on the road, temporary temples, etc.

If people want to practise their religion, they should arrange for it as oppose to causing inconvenience to others.

People should pratice their religion within the four walls of their house. Once they step outside the house, their behaviour should be secular. Why do people want to showcase their religion? This leads to ease in discrimination....

Good goal but wrong strategy...
by imran patel on Aug 20, 2010 01:16 PM  | Hide replies

As a Muslim, I dislike the presence of music and dance in Muslim weddings.

However, I disagree with the way these clerics are planning to implement it.

The best way is education. Having watchdog groups will leave to violence and Goondaism.

If a cleric does not want to participate in such weddings, he should be at the liberty to make that call. However if one chooses to perform the Nikah at such functions, he should have the right and freedom to do so.

The implementation here is another act of "Mob" mentality.

I keep telling this to ALL muslims.
In Islam, ENDS DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS.

what good are they doing to themselves by banning music in religious ceremonies or from their life. Instead they should ban the firecrackers, dahej system & costly spending during the marriages rather then going after music in the name of Islam. This people are the real reason why other communities doesn't like Islam. they follow their Mullah's fatva blindly without thinking anything.

Muslims must cut back on wedding spending and utlize that money towards the education of their children.

They should untilize it towards family planning of their whole community. Having 4 wives with each bearing 7-10 children is a costly affair, maybe not to them, but definitely to the nation. Some muzzie couples don't even know how many children they have had until now.
