The fact is that Taxis are being forced off the road on various technical pretexts like engines are not licensed, engine parts are not correctly licensed, etc.
The very parts that were passed and verified, without bribe, by RTO are now being called illegal.
Guess why...
Because to become legal, the taxi driver now has to buy a NEW TAXI!
Still better, the new taxi cannot be anything other than one of the new slick cars that you and I can buy.
These mean loans of 5 lakhs and above.
Who profits?
Banks who give loans for taxis. Car makers of various new models. Dealers / distributors / middlemen traders who probably bought stocks of cars.
It is impossible that car manufacturers are not behind this by way of bribes or recommendations or favours given to RTO / BMC / ALL political parties to keep quiet.
The roads are screwed up. The police are forced to become parasites even against their own wish. Traffic is too much. Yet, because the car makers want certain profits from certain models, they force the RTO to force the taxis to retire.
How many? Not a few 100, but approx 30,000.
30,000 x 5 lakhs is 1500 crores.
BIG money.
Who pays?
You, me and cabbie who has to buy new cab. Who profits?

It's you who're diverting attention. Actually the cars have to be junked after 3 to 5 years. That's the rule in many developed countries as well. But in India, we keep on using the car for years n years on end without, screwing the atmosphere and lives with pollution. & also the foolish (pseudo humanitarian) excuse that "People can't buy a new car after every 3 to 5 years." Actually, we have to streamline the complet buying & registration process of vehicles. For that, we'll hacve to erdicate rampant corruption. But no, we'll continue with old, archaic ways.....
Let private companies set up autos - Ever since private companies were allowed to set up traveling by taxi have become a dream though extra you are sure of a comfortable ride. Even today no taxi or auto wants to ply short distance. Why don't police register complaints or ensure a mechanism for registering complaints online.
Raj is acting like Kath-Putli [like Lalu Prasad]. The Congress is holding the puse strings, And Mamma Mia is playing the "tune". The fate of Raj will be the same as Lalu's fate. Congress's main function is to lure smaller parties and take full advuntages from them, then kick them out, throw them in to dustbin. Past history suggests that like Lalu, Raj, many small parties are now become extinct
some positive action. All the UPites & Biharis come from a land where might is right. And they need to be spoken to in the language they understand. LANGUAGE OF THE LATHI.
