This is overhyped
by VK on Aug 16, 2010 01:17 AM  | Hide replies

US and China are not going to fight a war. It will be more like China trying to expand its influence while the US tries to prevent that.

We should back the US more openly, since China's foreign policy is completely hostile towards India, with China trying to surround us from all sides, creating problems on the border and issuing stapled visas for some Indians.

All this talk of how China can just sell its treasury bills is just rubbish. If china did that their export-dependent economy will go to pieces. They are both dependent on each other and cant do anything too drastic. But the US still has the upper hand in many ways.

As to making a new missile, which is apparently deadly, it might be true to some extent but remember they still buy most of their advanced armaments from Russia and try to reverse engineer them. Even the mighty Russians have had serious trouble with their most recent missile and nuclear submarine. These things take decades to establish as reliable and effective.

Two cats going to fight..and a mouse has to decide if it is Jerry
by Indian on Aug 13, 2010 06:53 PM  | Hide replies

Two big cats USA & China might go to fight for breadcrumb and a mouse (India) has to decide if its Jerry mouse.
Here is proposition:
-Indian will support US as we hate china by birth
-India (government) will be in dilemma as usual
-China will be bankrupt if US (& allies) stop importing goods from it
-USA $ ratio will be 1 rupee = 200$ kind of if China utilize its $ reserve
-we IT people will tell our kids short stories - once upon a time there was H1B, L1 and we're dying for it.

Very interesting. But how do you think the Indian Rupee will appreciate to $ 200 if China utilises its dollar reserves. And if it does then how will it support the Yuan in future. Chinese export surpluses arise out of the cheap Yuan kept at that value due to high forex reserves.

India the largest democratic country must support America the Oldest democratic country in this issue.
Because China had suurounded India through its octopus hand by making larger presence in Pak, Myanmar, Banglades & Lanka.
India should not have allowed China keeping its foot in SAARC countries. But as India is currently in the hands of Un Patriatic Alliance (UPA) they neither bother about internal issues nor the external issue.

Chinese quality
by guru prasanth on Aug 13, 2010 06:15 PM  | Hide replies

When reporter talks about chinese missiles who knows about their accuracy and quality.
China may be good in manufacturing cheap products but in sectors like electronics, automobiles, etc
with a exception of telecom(to some extend ) their quality remains poor.In defense what's required
is precision more than quandity. So who knows how good are chinese missiles.

Or may be India should use this chance to wipe out PAK .. as both of PAK's trusted allies will be in war, there will be no help for PAK and the darkest 'stain' on the world map can be washed off for ever .. also a little rinsing in Kashmir wud benefit ;-)

China has got guts unlike India
by brian crasto on Aug 13, 2010 05:00 PM  | Hide replies

The Chinese has invested 732 Billion dollars in USA bonds unlike india who has just invested 32 billion $. The investment in defence is 100$ billion compared to indias 32 billion dollars. These stastics are taken from rediffmail. We always like to lick the so called mighty US. If USA tries to act funny the Chinese will withdraw the money from which may create payment crises in USA. In fact USA is a little bit afraid of china not beca

Chinese economy is largely dependent on World's consumerism & US is its largest customer. For this reason only China invested so much in US to save ailing US economy recently. It can not afford to pull them back or attack its major customer. China is in a fix

i mayb wrong ..as far as my knowledge goes...chinas investment in us bonds is to maintain its currency from appreciating .it unlikely that china will pull back its investments ...and allow the yuan to rise killing its economy....i may b wrong..

china needs huge investment as no developed nation sells latest technology to china..it is mostly indeginous developement..which is good thing though..India with limited budget and intelligent purchases can bring china down.
