Kashmir: Echoes from 20 years ago
by njpendse@rediffmail.com on Aug 09, 2010 10:49 AM

I read your article. I think a new spurt in violance is an after effect of Pakistan is being little more worried of state funded terrisom in Pakistan itself. It is costing them very dear & I could sence there is some urgency shown in present goverment to keep check on it.
Remember one thing, for US; there is no strategic importance of Pakistan after earstwhile USSR gave up Afganistan & they (US) themselves paid heavy price for funding unrest in North west provinces in Pakistan.
All these developments have put on Kashmir issue on back burner for arround 10 years.
I beleive recent rise in violance is a knee jerk movement by Jihidis to get attention by international community. India should not give up now & should be more sturn on seperatisties.

Kashmiri Pandits
by sanjay bhatia on Aug 09, 2010 10:36 AM

Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits were rendered homeless. Did any Kashmiri muslim who inflicted violence on them complain.Kashmir is also the home of Kashmiri Pandits. That some of the original people of Kashmir have been displaced very clearly shows the mentality of the majority community there and what they are upto.

The unrest is all created by Pakistan & MUslim fundamentalists. They are all a worried lot because Kashmir was gradually returning back to normalcy which they dont want, at any cost. If only, India can ensure that equal number of Muslims/terrorists are killed in India, Pakistan will be in control & so will be Kashmir

Hello Sara, As you are writing, It shows you have good knowledge about kashmir, I want you some more knowledge from you, Can u tell me How many Muslims are in India and how many muslims are in Kashmir and Why only Kashmiris Muslims have Problem? As inKashmir Muslim is in Majority Do any kashmiri muslims and goverment have any program to rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits? In whole India, why only Kashmiri muslims have problem and if there is any problem due to its separate constitution then they should fight for removal of Article 370.

Kashmir and India i.e.Bharat
by damodar bale on Aug 09, 2010 08:00 AM

This situation is purposefully created by the former rulers with the help of prominent politicians in power then. With formation of Pakistan as religion based nation and Bharat as multi religion nation. In fact there should not have been any creation of a nation with religion as base.Resulting in reduction of percentage of Hindu population in new nation and increase of percentage of Muslim population in the main land. This communal unrest will continue as long as ill-willed politicians exist in both the nations. The former rulers are happy laughing at their creation. That's the way they earn their living.

India should follow Israeli way to keep the terrorists at bay.Strengthen the intelligence and take action against the terrorists only.Spare innocent people and bring them to the national main stream by providing education and employment.

by Judgement Day on Aug 08, 2010 10:42 PM  | Hide replies

Indian people should now try to find the truth about what is actually happening in kashmir or has been happening since decades, if they dont do so Im sure God wont forgive them. Violent protests - What else do u expect from kashmiris when u keep on killing them, when u are not ready and serious about solving the problem? Ask ur indian govt. about the lose of lives, since 2 decades its the indian army thats killing, looting and raping, they are the actual reason for all this, they are the reason why kashmiris can never forget and forgive indian, the real terrorists in kashmir are the indian troops always ready to kill, beat and rape, always ready to kill in custody and fake encounters. 100000 killed and 10000 raped by indian troops in Kashmir, and its continuing.

Wherever army deployed this sort of situation you will find. But do you think why army has deployed in kashmir only why not in other part of country? If kashmir have its own goverment, their local people are in govt,it means they are not capable to handle this extremist,It means Kashmiri is not capable to run the govt or Kashmiri people does not want peace so,this sort of situation is arriving. If problem is under kahmiris then what our Central Govt. Can do.

So were many other states under the British Raj, But in the post independence era intiatives were taken to bring them under one rule. Same is applicable with kashmir also. King hari Singh acceded to join India. Why did your pakistan infiltrate miscreants from other side of the border to create mayhem. Any answer.

My friend from where you got these numbers. Don't get biased by the prapoganga made by seperatis. Remember if Kashmir got a fredom it will have of very short life. Pakistan will immediately enpower it.
Here in India, there is atleast a democracy. People of Kshmir can choose it's goverment. You know what's happning in Pakistan.

that is our army ,not urs or mine and it is send to defend us so please don't come in their way and and avoid to act like a foreigner. If you put your hand in fire , it will burn, they are not concerned with any individual, they are there to save people's property that is Govt. Property.
The problem started with pelting of stones on soldiers and oviouly they will not garland such people. You are talking of 5 lakh but what about the remaing more than 1 arab(1000million)people of India. Mind it Army is representing those remaining Indians. So that Pakistani miscreants among the crowd should not cause more destruction in Kashmir Vally.

Present Kashmir violence
by bimal mohapatra on Aug 08, 2010 04:07 PM

Present violence in Kashmir is partly due to internal conflict in National Conference. Inexperience Omar taking over the rein of CM over and above many other experience party members is not acceptable. They seem are not interested in governance. This is quite visible if one read the body language of NC leaders participating in the all party meet called to resolve the present upheaval. India's major problem is family dominancy with support of coteries in almost all political parties. Once these families get some hold on a hanful of voter they think they are every thing. They want to retain the same in any cost. This any cost contribute in destroying social, political, cultural and what not of the nation. Sometimes they are also use to get the support of intellectuals which is another great tragedy in this nation. Here in our nation intellectuals are nothing but either heired orator or writer. As long as they are of this charecter one must forget that this nation will grow in all social, economic and political parameters.

Since india can not control the soil even by armed forces, why not let Kashmir get its full indepedence?? Then india will not suffer the brain pains and Kashmiris will not die everyday. By that time, india's human rights will also improve.

no doubt you think that Partition was a good thing for India --- good riddance of bad rubbish --- a historic event that has let us LIVES IN PEACE & SECURITY ever after, and progress economically due to the hard work of our citizens (without cross-border interference and resource-drain).

Come on, wake up.

Bharat se Phokat ki Roti, Pak se Muft ki Maut
by Unapologetic Intellectual on Aug 08, 2010 01:05 AM

Bharat se Phokat ki Roti, Pak se Muft ki Maut
Thats the motto of Kashmiri seperatists...
They live on money doled out by India but want to merge with Pak.
Just recently, HuriyatsGeelani was caught on tape saying 'more kashmiris need to die so that anger & protests can sustain'
All this so that PakISI can turn the attention away from a lot of intelligence disasters like WikiLeaks etc.

So Kashmir has become the Dollar-Store for Intefada.. (Current rate is Rs. 50 for Stone throwing, just Rs 25 for teenagers 100 for burning vehicles.)

The only thing that changed in Kashmir 3 months back was Paks need to divert attention from its own follies.
