Tharoor will have the last laugh
by Benil presenan on May 14, 2010 05:53 AM

Mr.Tharoor,I am originally from your constituency, now settled elsewhere.I am sure there were many rooting for you to win though we didn't have our votes in that place any longer.
You are a natural choice when it comes to electing a person to the parliament and as we had hoped you made it to the cabinet in the very first attempt. Think of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and who better to head it than you. We rationalised that Minister of State was good enough. To hope for anything more for a first -timer would be 'atyagraham'.
We ain't bothered about your sophistication or lack of simplicity. Nope, you are our international face. And there are our leaders like A.K.Antony and Panniyan Ravindran who show how a quintessential malayali despises ostentatious display. Yes, we like it when you go about wearing Mundu in the home constituency. It vindicates us. It is only the truly beautiful or the truly rich or the truly intellectual people who can afford to be simple. And yes, you are truly intellectual and and truly handsome.(No, we dont think you are rich enough to own an IPL team). So go along and show all the austerity you can while in Thiruananthapuram. Iwish instead of tweeting that reaches only a miniscule net-savvy segment of people, you would share views in newspaper columns. More permanent nature. words wont be twisted even before they are out of the mouth or finger-tips.
All the best.

Very smart guy with great vision for future of India. India needs more progressive leaders like him if it needs to be a global power. Being very handsome with beautiful eyes certainly will help him in politics. Although people are often inclined to say it is the
ideology and beliefs that matter, sadly that is
not the case as humans really on visual input for majority of the decisions. As is the case in any elections held around the world (ex:Scott Brown).

Pawar's - the greatest looters of India
by mandar on Apr 20, 2010 08:23 PM  | Hide replies

Sharad Pawar is the most corrupt politician in India with great abilities of connecting people and making them work unethically to make money and share a part of it.

He has created a gang of looters all his life. They loot using various methods and they are protected by Pawar using his political clout. Then these people share the looted money with Pawars.

HCC is building a big city LAVASA along the banks of Varasgaon backwaters. It is just beyong imagination how one could get forest & environment clearances for such a Project within no time. 25 kms of Water front, both sides. The people buying properties would be mostly among the looters. They will throw their shit in the reservoir and the same water will have to be used by people of Pune to drink.

IRB Builders, the greatest Toll mafia as called by Vilasrao Deshmukh, takes the tolling contracts paying nuts to the Government. Because there are no competitors. How - Pawar calls up the competitors at the last minute of bidding time and makes them stop from bidding. The glaring example is Pune Bombay Express Highway.

IPL is now well known to everyone. The collection of looters is the stamp of Pawar's style of working.

Earlier the Sugar factories and their directors looted the farmers with the blessings of Pawar. Still this looting is going on but most of the factories are in bad shape because of such looting. In between he takes money from Govt. to bring these sugar factories in shape

That money again goes to the looters who are with Pawar.

Remember the Farmers debt and the Central Govts. paying for their debt. Which farmers got that money. Whose debt was cancelled. You will find that all the big farmers who are economically in upper bracket such as Grapes producers who export the grapes, Sugarcane growers who run the factories got the benefit. These big people, the looters created by Pawar, got the maxinmum money and the real needy farmers never knew about this generous help from Govt.

Most of the builders in Pune are Pawars close. Why? He allows them to loot through Govt. land grabbing, twisting Govt. rules. The builders loot from common people and that share goes to Pawar.

It is a great shame that such a crooked person is in Power for such a long time. His nephew is carrying further his legacy. Nobody dares talk against Pawar's. Everyone is scared about their fate. - What happened to Dnyaneshwar Agashe & his family could happen to any person taking on Pawar.

Till date Telgi is not allowed to speak to Media or elsewhere about who are all involved with him. Who was it that protected him for so long and flourished his business. It was Sharad babu through Chagan Bhujbal.

RIP....Shahi Tharoor MOS Ext AFFAIRS....2009-2010.
Was thought to be intelligent bright and honest..but didnt know what to tweet when.
Was considered the face of new age India...but ended as the New age crook.
Was considered to be an expert in foreign relations having served in UN for long....yet couldnt understand Indo-pak relations, resulting in his suggesting an 'interlocutor'.
Considered himself to an English expert...if only he knew which words to say when.
With a heavy heart we bid farewell to this 'too smart for himself' soul and wish his soul a peaceful journey. SIGH

the biggest mistake he did was entering the indian politics. That too from kerala. Kerala doesn't need educated politicians. We need only idiots (pozhanamar as our beloved CM would call )

biased article
by sunil ramaswamy on Apr 20, 2010 07:32 AM  | Hide replies

this is one of the most biased article i have read in rediff... how come the writer claim that shashi got the sweat equity for sunanda, when even the worst detractors maintain that it is still an allegation? why jump the gun?
i hail from trivandrum, and never have we as a voter felt that he is not accessible to us... at least he was way better than the previous MP, Mr. Pannian Ravindran, whom we saw only before voting, and not after that for 5 years.
this article aims to defame tharoor... how does the author know for sure that he used his clout as a minister to influence the bid, when lalit modi himself says that the bid was transparent?
also, what is sharad pawar, farooq abdullah and co doing in BCCI if cricket is not for politicians?
the author claims his lifestyle has not changed... for me, if he suddenly went around like these pathetic politicians do, i would suspect his intentions... why should he change? he spent the money he earnt, writing books and serving as a diplomat...rather than people like devegowda, whose only job is "serving people", but he owns half of karnataka....
shashi is a misfit for indian politics, because he still has to learn the art of swimming with the sharks...

i would tend to agree with sunil.we r going only by media reports.what we do know is that it is difficult to believe that a person with credentials as has dr.tharoor, would inexplicably change and 'conform' to widely believed perceptions of indian politics and the people therein.

Dr Tharor , dont worry but !!
by ashwani sharma on Apr 20, 2010 07:32 AM

If in the first place Dr. Tharor had a negative report from MEA, then UPA Chairperson & PM are to be squarely blamed for inducting him into the cabinet!!

As far as Dr. is concerned he should not worry and do the SWOT analysis ,finalise the strategy and sure can plan a long term future innings in Indian politics.

Since he is a former international diplomat ,must know the difference and be careful. One Pushkar will be fine but you cant play Sarkozy & Berlusconi in India and be a successful politician.Choice is yours Dr.Tharor!!!Good luck!!

Don't compare Lallus, Mayas, Pawars ..because they are all born for corruption.

what tharoor achieved to praise him?

What makes him to be a different politician?

What was his plan to change India?

...Nothing.

Only controversies to talk about him.

for those of us who have held dr.tharoor in high esteem owing to his accomplishments and grace, now find it sad that this has happened.it is also puzzling as to why and how he could land himself in such a mess ,given his IQ ! i guess that adage abt.EQ being more important, applies here ...

u see, when a reader connects with an author via his literary expressions, one tends to definitely form an image.also, there was this faint hope of this country seeing at least a little change .now we find that the system tends to suck a person in ???? the person who gets sucked in, either buckles or joins hands ,which of the 2 is true in dr.tharoor's case being unclear yet.
